Who was it who "gave" him this place he's lived in for 35 years? And why? Even if it was ruined, where did he get the money to make it habitable? It wasn't as if he was capable of earning a good salary even at the best of times.

I don't think thorpe wanted to kill him but I think it was people higher up who where behind it as for thope bring bisexual was true and reallywhy was it a crime in them days if thorpe was gay or bi so what
@2eleven48 Жыл бұрын
You clearly have an astonishing ignorance about the laws that prevailed at that time. Furthermore, Thorpe married as an expedient because rumours were circling that he was homosexual (in the language of the time) and he had to present himself as 'normal', particularly as there was a strong suggestion that he would be the next Leader of the Liberal Party. And who, really, were these people 'higher up' who would go to the lengths of bumping off Scott? That's merely conspiracy theorising. Indeed, Thorpe's downfall would have been met with glee by the other political parties.

Thorpe directed them, pointed them in the direction of murder - they would never have done it, or felt any need to do it, without his encouragement: he was eaten up by ambition and no one could be allowed to get in his way; the man was corrupt to the core.

@@Psmith-ek5hq So have I - and those rumours are crap. It mattered THEN that Thorpe was homosexual, or - if you like - bi-sexual. But what matters now is that Thorpe was a criminal who should have gone to prison, but didn't because a corrupt establishment and half-witted judge coalesced around him in a protective wall.
