Motor Sailing for Old Dudes

Motor Sailing for Old Dudes

Күн бұрын

I am waiting to film the build of my new dinghy and to fill in some time, decide to help a lady take her monohull sailboat south. It will be a good comparison with motor sailing on my boat.
We cruise extensively along the East Australian Coast on our 13 meter catamaran. Join us as we explore new cruising grounds, cross bars, fix all kinds of problems, ride out rough weather and live aboard for extended periods.
We even have a playlist that gets us on other peoples boats.
We hope that our videos encourage others to get on board and experience this fantastic lifestyle.

I have to agree that Peggy Ann is a great live aboard especially for us old timers! However we spent a year sailing the east coast from Adelaide and used 200 litres of diesel for the trip. I think the biggest thing to making the journey fun and enjoyable is taking your time and waiting for appropriate weather. No time restraints

That's what makes cruising when you're retired, so easy. Merry Xmas Dudes

Thanks as always for your honest opinion. We went the other way and atm while we battle getting our nanni started sailing, if the wind were blowing our direction (north, which it rarely does this time of year) we’d be off and running. So frustrating, stuck within a days sail range of Coffs but no do k doing what’s it done so reliably for 12 months). At least we can watch your videos after the days boat jobs are done. And on cats, totally get the stability benefits. Had a decent cat been available in our budget we would have got one. Keep the videos coming Norm. All the best mate. Linda and Col

Thanks Dudes. Nannis usually pretty reliable. Stick with it. That's the only problem with cats...the price. Have a good Xmas 👍 😊

@ ta Norm. Yeah, we finally have a diagnosis- high pressure fuel tank (injector pump) not cooperating. Awaiting professional help. It’s way beyond this little black duck. Not holding my breath so close to Xmas.

Thanks Norm Nice analysis Less than five knots, might as well use the iron staysail. That’s what it’s there for. I like that mainsail, sets well and nicely made.

Hi Norm. Yep. A volunteer is someone that didn’t understand the question the first time. A stable deck is a good deck. I said Hi to you at Roslyn bay Marina a couple of months back. Enjoy watching your videos. We have had a couple of boats over the years and after a brief time ashore relocating our place of residence we have just jumped back into another boat. Like you always say , stay out there till you can’t. Great credo. If you ever call in to Mooloolaba on your way past give us a hoy and we’ll grab a coffeeeeeeee.

Hey Norm, you were scrabbling about on the fire deck of that boat with no life jacket and no harness! Naughty!

Hence the reason captain lady has you on board for the passage. By chance is that yacht a Jeanneau owned by an English lady moving south to RQYC Marina for summer?

Probably not a lot Dude. The lighthouse is now all solar and the power line track is now getting overgrown. Probably hard to get to the light from the anchorage soon.
