Love that you showcase vintage guitars that aren’t Gibson or Fender. These guitars and others have so much personality, people need to hear them as you play them. Thank you Mr. Lemmo 💪⚡️💨

Two crazy things about this video: 1. My daughter showed me a pic of the guitar she played at her guitar teacher’s earlier today. It was a, no kidding, black 1961 Silvertone U1, which I’d never heard of. 2. Your playing. Dude, oh my god.

I learned on a Danelectro convertible acoustic. 1962. That's why I can play on anything today.. talk about developing chops...lol I have to say nice sounding when made playable.

I always want to play Day Tripper on them because that was the first riff I learned and that was on a Harmony Bobkat. Then I bought a Ross Distortion pedal and discovered Joan Jett. A Plush head and a no-name bass cabinet came soon after. (:

When I was a kid, these were considered POSs because of the linkage to Sears, but as time has moved their amps and guitars have now become desirable and thought of in the way the 60s Batman is now “camp” as in very cool

Nice demo, Lemmo ! Besides being what i think would be a cool slide guitar, a nice flash back to the early '60s and the Sears Christmas Wish Book. hey, got a Wing Ding when was like 6 on Christmas morning. Wish i still had it (maccaferri built i learned later).

Those of us old enough to have had to experience the cheap Silvertones and Danelectros as first 'cheap' guitars, could hardly wait until we could afford to toss them and get a real Gibson, Guild, Fender or Gretchen. those junk level instruments that survived have been RE neck set, action corrected, and in some cases re-bridged to intonate correctly. They were horrible to play back in the day... Now that survivors are fixed up and playable, they are an interesting novelty.

Spot on. I will be 58 in 3 weeks. Started playing in 1976 and worked in a music store after school. At that time, you couldn't GIVE a Dano or Silvertone guitar away. We actually laughed at people that played them. Sort of viewed as poverty guitars. You could find them all day long for $25-$75 bucks, cheaper at Yardsales!.

The key to these guitars is the neck tilt feature. Once you get it set right the action and intonation fall into place easily. I’ve set up a few wall hangers for people who had no idea they could be made playable. 15-20 minutes of adjustment and they had one more instrument and one less piece of furniture. ☺️

Ahh the mid sixties Christmas guitars. Bought my first guitar second hand for twenty bucks and got a cheesy amp for free. Used to drool over the Sears catalogue guitar section.... lol. Always had to get extra heavy gauge strings for that long term play. Was right next to stringing your guitar with fence wire. Those were the days.

I find with this guitar you have to especially move your picking hand to match the centre-most area for each note you play..if that makes sense… so much body for friggen particle core

Can I request a guitar of the day from your inventory? I saw you guys have a Gibson custom shop es 335 with p90s in it on reverb. If it's still there and not sold could we see what Lemmo could do with it?

I've often wondered if Page, Clapton or Hendrix had never played Dano or Silverstone if they would be so highly regarded now. I don't think so but regardless they are great guitars

You see I bought a 58 Jazzmaster in 1958 ! this Silvertone ,you don't realize, Ernie Ball was not available they gave you sandpaper for when they got cruddy.Thick unwieldy strings No one in the sticks (Hollywood ,Fla) ( pre Norm) no one knew about setting up a guitar.Imagine at 6th fret about 1/4 at 12th a half. Now you have a playable instrument. It was not worth $75 in the 60'
