For the life of me, I don't know why more modern bass builders don't include a bridge mute system like this. So practical, useful, and MUSICAL!

Rickenbackers and 70s-style Stingrays have them - and some Custom Shop Fenders have the Jaguar mute on them, like Sean Hurley’s Precision bass.

I love these basses. My first bass was a 1966 Gibson EBO that I got when I was 13. I got the bass because of Jack Bruce. Even thought Jack used an EBO for a short period.

That brings back memories. I saw Cream at Fillmore SF in 1967. Yes, I’m 75 years young. Haha! Nice job guys!

What an awesome Thumpin' Thursday! Definitely some deep thumping coming out of that Gibson. It was a real treat to have Norm make the opening comments.

A friend of mine had one of these beautiful bass guitars. He let me gig with it several times. He would have sold it to me but I was too poor at the time. I’ve never played a bass that I loved more. Also, I’m so glad you played I’m so glad!!! ☮️

Beautiful bass. I started playing bass in the early 70’s when I was 14 years old, the first “real” bass I owned was an EB0. It was beat to shit, but I was proud of it.

Used to have an EB0 back in the day. It started sounding too muddy for me, so I traded it in fot the EB3, which had more tonal possibilities...Both had chest thumping bass through my Ampeg B-18. Ever since, I've used Fender Precision and Jazz basses....sits in a studio mix better, and has the classic bass sound for all genres.

I'm So Glad. It was made famous by Cream but it is actually an old blues tune by Skip James. Or at least that is what Wikipedia says. Before I wrote my reply I used it to look up who wrote it.

That switch is not a Varitone-it’s a rotary 4-position pickup selector. A Varitone is a 6-position rotary switch with different capacitors and chokes in five of the positions that cut different midrange frequencies; position 1 takes it out of the circuit entirely. The Varitone operates in all pickup positions. Not every rotary switch is a Varitone!
