I lived in a coastal city in canada, and we once had a tsunami warning. That alarm goes off on ALL devices. Cell phone, smart watch, tablet, computer, TV, radio. It is terrifying when it just goes off, especially when you are asleep. Definitely deserves an S tier seeing as we actually use it and test it.

As a Canadian, I can confirm this is terrifying when the school has an assembly with adults and adults almost always have phones, so when this went of at the spring concert the school had to get the principal to calm some of the students down (mostly the lower grades)

The Canadian EAS alert is terrifying. Especially when it's not just a practice alert. When the mass stabbings went on in Saskatchewan, the alarms went off at least six times during the afternoon and twice during the night. It was pretty scary

Oh, I remember that. I was home alone for a lot of it and at one point I was trying to calm down from the constant alarms by watching a show on the TV and suddenly the screen went red with that damn sound BLARING from the speakers. As soon as it was over I turned off the TV and kept it off for the rest of the week.

The Canadian EAS alarm is all fun and games until every phone starts making that sound at 700 decibels at 2 in the afternoon, causing you to shit yourself in terror. We also hear it way more often than anyone else hears theirs, because that alarm is also used for AMBER alerts (someone got kidnapped and we're trying to scare the perp into surrendering them.)

As a canadian, I do panic attacks ever since we heard our eas alarm few weeks ago. Last time I heard it, it went off 5 times on 7 different phones because of a tornado watch that litterally hit us 10 minutes later. I had to confine 17 people alone in the woods (including 8 children) for an extracurricular activity. We had 5 minutes to run and take the necessary from the children's tents and go inside a small cabin. We lost electricity. We took what was necessary (that people could snack on) from the fridge and hope it would last until morning. Called every parent (some were off-the-grid and didn't even know that there was a tornado where we were) and asked them to stay home, that the conditions were horrible and that we would be fine. Next day, we discovered that a tree had fallen near my tent and that food was about to be wasted. We did a community bruch with everyone's food so we would have enough energy for the day (and lose nothing). Ever since, I try to practice myself hearing it and not panic... Not working well. Ooooh well. 😅

The worst disaster in canadian history was actually the 1998 Montreal Ice Storm. This year we had the worst one since 1998 in April.

I'm from Israel and as a kid I once heard the alarm, as a kid having no idea what was happening and having my family screaming and running to a shelter it is by far the most terrifying thing to ever happen. As well as the siren hearing that at such a volume and having no idea what it is was so scary also adding that everyone was ignoring my questions on what is going on. As someone who’s Canadian I’m telling you Canada’s EAS is very creepy every now and then we get amber alerts last time I got one was in the middle of the night (2:47 am) I woke up terrified and annoyed trust me when I say it’s scary

Funfact: polish alarm is from 1939 and in this year Poland had huge war with other countries just like Germany and Russia! (But other historic names don’t know how to write them in English cuz I’m from Spain) and it’s more scary now but kinda sounds like wake up alarm

I’m a Canadian and a few months ago and I watched a tornado start to form over my house but it never toutched down in my area but for the first time I heard the tornado siren and I texted all my friends saying how much I loved them bc I thought I was going to die😅

i remember the eas alarm on my phone but for an amber alert I was sleeping peacefully on the couch then I wake up to Canadian music blasting (music=eas alarm) and I got scared so badly, I love it

As a Canadian, we exist and the alarm is terrifying as it’s not commonly heard but always makes people jump when they hear it
