I think he's referring to the red flag. When the race was flagged everyone came into the pit lane and were given the chance to put on new tires. George Russell is even on team radio screaming about this because as everyone knows you can't predict red flags they just happen. So I think Norris is completely fine in saying that it is "just luck" because really it was. I don't think it takes anything away from Max's drive from 17th.

Only car he passed was his teammate? Ok so you're clearly forgetting his overtake on Russell, which without a red flag would've effectively been P1. Red flags are inherently lucky/unlucky for some because of the rules, absolutely no one can deny that. And the lack of overtaking from McLaren later in the race was down to their setup. They setup the car to lead from the front, which in my opinion was extremely risky considering how poor Norris has been from pole. They went with massive amounts of downforce compared to their competitors, meaning they were very slow on the straights. So, with no DRS it was effectively impossible for McLaren's to overtake if the car ahead kept it on track. You could clearly see this in the opening laps, Lando was keeping close to Russell, but on the straights, even in the slipstream Russell was actually getting further away from Lando. All the criticism from Lando this race for not being able to overtake could be seen in Piastri as well. He simply couldn't pass anyone, and eventually got so frustrated that he divebombed Lawson and got a penalty. This says more about the car than the drivers. I think McLaren as a whole deserve massive criticism for the setup they went with because neither driver could do anything in the race. As a final note, Max was phenomenal. Yes, he got lucky with the red flag, but chances are he wins the race anyway considering his overall pace, but it would've been fun to see them fight for P1 had it turned out differently.

Man my god u base your opinion only on your emotions and with 0 brain that's so stupid, first of all he started on P14 thanks to sainz, stroll and albon and not P17, after the start he was P10 and got stuck for several laps on P6 while russell and labdo were almost 20 seconds ahead if i'm not wrong but surely 15 seconds, then with the pit stops of the drivers in front he got into p2 which was going to loose anyway because he had to make surely one pitstop, safety car cames in and it was going to be a really mess for him... thanks to colapinto he got the red flag, so at the end it started a second race of 30 laps where it started P2, how people keep saying he win from P17? It was luck that Norris had an engine which stayed together for him. It was luck that Verstappen didnt qualify well. It wasnt luck that Verstappen decided to try to get full use out of his tyres knowing that a red flag was almost certain to happen in the race , just as it did in qualification. It wasnt luck for Ocon and Gasly either. all 3 of them were doing reasonably on their tyres and saw no need to change until they had to. It was Verstappens great cornering line which made the skilful difference.

Yes... Sky F1 and their Brit bias may seem pathetic in they eyes of the rest of the world but "fools" they are not. The objective is to get under "their boy's" rival's skin, make him take his eyes off the ball. When it works, it's mission accomplished for them. They surely know what they're doing, make no mistake. I like Lando and despite his inconsistent performances, I still wish him well in his chosen career. On the other hand I don't particularly follow Max, but similarly I enjoy watching him drive. Brazil for me confirmed the fact that Lando does not have a championship winners mindset when it's needed, whereas Max is switched on from start to finish, never giving up. Max showed his superiority and skill and thoroughly deserved that win and the 2024 WDC.

How to beat Max is really simple to explain, but extraordinarily difficult to do: 1) You need a great car. 2) You cannot make any mistakes. What sets Max apart from most others is that he makes very, very few mistakes. He's incredibly consistent. And sometimes, he just goes absolutely crazy, like that qualifying round in Monaco, or this boat race in Brazil. He's also very good at finding grip anywhere on the track. The way he overtook a whole line of cars on the outside, reminded me of that legendary race of Senna.

Yes... the only problem with Max is his increasing annoyance at a 'less than perfect' car performance vs his expectations... And the other time it was with Lewis - he was in such a hurry that he locked up trying to overtake and got a penalty. In one he couldn't even finish his race where he could 'safely' be ending in P4-P6 - either the Lewis, or the Lando incident.

@@Irene-ym7bx Watch that Silverstone 1978. It's an INSANE performance and so underrated because it was a non-GP race. He won it with probably the worst F1 car ever. The racing conditions were WAY worse than on yesteday's race. That car was so slow that it didn't even qualify to the races on the dry. Yet he beat Hunt, Lauda, Andretti and all top dogs with that POS.
