I congratulate this group of fine young Norwegian-Americans! They are keeping alive a wonderful tradition of Norwegian dances and music, and they are doing it very well! The dances include some of the less often performed folk dances, even in Norway!

The inmarch is done to a Swedish tune, Gardebylaten, a ganglat from Gardebyn, a small town in Darlana, Sweden. The first folk dance is the seldom seen Veva Vadmal, a weaving dance. Does anyone know the title of the second dance? It is delightful! The third dance is Soderlander Quadrille, which is similar to the better known German Saurerlander Quadrillle. Congratulations to the group! I don't know any other group that does this dance!

The first dance is the Norwegian version of a family of European weaving dances. The following is a list of other weaving dances: Weaving Dances Vava Vadmal - Sweden Hebredian Weaving Lilt - Scotland Weber Tanz - Germany Kangakudumine - Estonia Astounnytis - Lithuania Veva Vadmal - Norway Audeu Deja - Latvia Danish Weaving Dance - Denmark All these can be seen on KZbin! Happy viewing!

The second dance is the Midsommardans. It was said their instructors first saw this dance while they were touring Sweden. They brought back the video but did not have the music. Later another instructor/musician wrote the music that they are using now.

Midsommardans is a wonderful Swedish dance! Though the music is not traditional, it is in the traditional style, and fits perfectly!

Which part of Norway does the blue and yellow bunad kom from? Is it close to Sweden or maybe Swedish? Just wondering since it’s usually region based. Sorry if I sound rude, I really just wondering

You are correct. Those are Swedish folk costumes (Folkdräkter). The group is composed of descendants and friends of Scandinavia. They have developed a passion for Nordic dances, music and culture.

I think you should name the different dances, like Polka etc.
