Hello All,
We ran into a roadblock when trying to figure out exactly how to trim/cut the lower vent tube as they must be custom matched to your propeller. In some pictures, it looked like the vent tube was cut in a cupped shape, not a straight angle cut across both side of the tube. At first, we tried to trim it free hand, little at a time. However, as we proceeded, we realized there must be an easier way and we didn't want to trim too much, which would result in a wasted tube and another $280 replacement from Teague!
Finally we figured it out! to find the angle, you must be able to spin the propeller past the lower vent tube. Since the vent tube is shipped oversize, you have to move the propeller out to the end of the shaft to be able to clear the blades past the vent tube. Once you can clear the blades, then using a pieced of 2" blue painters tape, you wrap it around the the vent tube out to the point where it's touching the blade and is at the proper angle to clear it as it passes by. THE TRICK - Essentially, the tape is used to MOCK up the end of the vent tube, on the angle that clears the propeller by 1/4" evenly. Then, you slide the propeller back into running position and rotate the prop to where it touches the vent tube, mark that spot. Then measure back from the spot up the vent tube 1/4". Then measure back from your mocked up vent tube edge made of tape to your mark at the top and bottom evenly at the same angle. Then place a piece of tape around those marks to form the cut angle!
I couldn't find a single installation video or any other instructions other than the 3 page write up provided with the Aerators.
So I decided to put this together to help the community!
Let me know if you have any feedback or questions!
Sincerely,
