They are a perfect couple. That show really knew what they were doing matching people up.

I am so in love with this fun fascinating duo of contemptible little worms. I even have an AU Fanfic in mind where they escape and become a wild west outlaw duo ala Bonnie and Clyde. Sort of like if Jesse James and Belle Starr teamed up. It disregards Heaven and Hell in that Orry is still alive and they are still a couple. Instead of getting even with George and Orry, they are more concerned with wealth, excitement, power, living their own lives away from the past, and survival.

Phillip Casnoff had the best-sounding Southern accent in this whole series :)

Akil Alleyne , as someone who's lived in half a dozen southern states, I can tell you he has the worse, overly exaggerated, obnoxiously corny, put on southern accent in the history of film. No southerner ever talked anything like that, only someone who has no ear for accents trying to do a southern one would sound that awful.
@robertisham52794 жыл бұрын
@@candiceschoice941 I still liked his accent

@@candiceschoice941 Oh, I'm sure no one in the South sounds that way *nowadays.* From what I've read and heard, at least, the aristocratic, non-rhotic (i.e. with Rs dropped at the ends of words) Southern accents have all but disappeared (though I find some modern Southerners, like Jimmy Carter and Morris Dees, still speak that way to some extent). But I stand by my opinion: I like the way that accent sounds. Of course, as Black man, I would be remiss not to note that the sociopolitical history behind it is just plain ghastly (yes, I'm talking about the slavery, segregation, and all-around legacy of violent, murderous white supremacy). But as a purely aesthetic matter, I like that type of Southern accent. Sue me 🤷🏾♂️

@@WestIndianAK you're right. The R-less southern accent is almost obsolete in the new millinium. The hard R's have taken over. My dad and aunt were born in 1930's central North Carolina and they spoke with an R-less accent all their lives. In the 19th century, many east coasters were descendents of England. Hence the R-less speech. Scottish and Irish immigrants settled more inland, away from the shore and closer to the mountains. So Phillip Cassanoff's accent is dead-on.

I'm glad they were paired up in this sequel. He was both an enemy of brother Orry and George Hazard, who were the hub of the whole series, yet paired up with Orry's sister. I wish they would've gotten married. Imagine him as Orry's brother in law! Philip Casnoff is undoubtedly one of my favorite well know/unknown character actors. He can make you hate him, but yet this series wouldn't have been any good without him. When he left the series after George kicked his butt and he came back later in book 1, I was very pleased, although I knew he would! Teri Garber is a great actress too! :)

Great combination of ruthlessness with Bent and his genuine concern for Ashton -- at heart this is a really lonely guy who wants to feel important and loved. He's still a jerk, of course, but an interesting one :-)

Was miniseries Bent raised by an aristocratic family. I mean he has an upper class southern accent like Orry, or Ashton or Justin Lamotte. Unlike the accents of Charles Main or Salem Jones who come from humble backgrounds and have a different southern accent.

FWIW, they also completely reworked his character from the Bent in the novels, who (though still racist as hell) was a bisexual white Northerner whose mental illness stemmed from the fact that he was inbred.
