This is most beautiful Period Drama ever, it has given a chance for people to see the brillance of the legend that is Elizabeth Gaskell, the book is amazing by the way. The actors are meant to play these parts, they fit it perfectly and the score is amazing. Richard Armtiage is so fit too. Love the vid, shows the best of the production to great music by a great band, and it's also fits really well, cause Margaret opens her eyes to John and Milton and how great they really are Cxx

What an incredible movie. I just watched it last week on Netflix. I didn't know what it was about at first. I thought it was a civil war movie but it was very good.

kathryn Swartz: You were quite right. There is another series (an American one) with the same title about the American civil war. But this BBC mini series from 2004 is based on Elizabeth (Cleghorn) Gaskell's masterpiece NORTH AND SOUTH, with some alterations here and there, and since then one of the most appreciated "classic romantic" BBC miniseries, while Richard Armitage and Daniela Denby-Ashe the most perfect on screen English couple. It is such a pity that the whole serial can't be seen on the internet any more...They say, there was an earlier BBC North and South film or serial ( in 1975 ) but I can't find that one either anywhere...
