I attended the annual Labour Day North Buxton Homecoming and met the descendants of fugitive slaves who had settled in this community in the 1850s. Some have remained here, many returned to the U.S. to help with Reconstruction. But since 1924 on this long weekend , thousands reunite in this village community about an hour from Windsor/Detroit. Lots of events - including family feud baseball tournament, special Sunday service, Car Show, Labour Day Parade. Plus lots of great food and family fun.
