This video contains highlights from our trip through the North Cascades in the late summer of 2023.
After being rerouted due to a large forest fire in the area, we embarked on a 5 day 4 night hike totaling roughly 40 miles. The North Cascades did not disappoint with breathtaking rugged peaks, crystal blue waters, beautiful foliage, and a plethora of wildlife such as Pika, grouse, black bear, marmots, mountain goats, and one entertaining encounter with a thieving black tailed deer. Conditions on the trail were very hot with temps in the upper 80s most days and dry, making all the glacial fed streams and waterfalls we encountered a welcomed surprise.
After departing the trail on the 5th day we capped off the trip with a day hike in Olympic National Park that even though short, was equally stunning. The Pacific Northwest truly did not disappoint and would highly recommend for anyone considering going.
