I cruised Georgian Bay for about 30 years. Age related issues made me have to give it up. Your videos are so well done, it almost put me back in the most beautiful place on earth. You've probably realized, no matter how many times you go to the same places, you will always see something new or find some place new. Thanks for your sharing and looking forward to stalking... err following this years videos if you do it again.

Mike, thanks for the comment. What boats have you had and what was your favourite? I hope we can continue cruising until age related issues force us to give it up. We can definitely cruise the same areas and go to the same anchorages and notice new things. But the best part is the new people you meet along the way. We have some more videos coming out and will be filming this years season too. Hopefully better then last season. Thanks for watching!

@@Jumpshiptravel Wow. I replied to you and it disappeared. I'm not a computer smart person. Anyway here is a condensed version . Always had woodies and finally got sick of scraping and scraping and fixing leaks. Last boat was a 37' aluminum alwest aluminum. Nice big upper deck and fly bridge. Twin 230 inboard outboards. The last summer we had it, my son who was 15, we lived on it. Our backyard was wherever we wanted it to be lol.
@Jumpshiptravel2 жыл бұрын
@@mikepech1648 that happens to us sometimes too. Not sure what causes it lol. Wood boats are beautiful, but I’ve heard they can be a lot of work. Nothing nicer looking on the water though. The aluminum boat sounds cool. I’m sure your son enjoyed living aboard. I know I would have loved it at that age or any age for that matter.

@@Jumpshiptravel I was 60 at that time. Son went back to school and living with my ex. I went up to northern Queerbec and got a cabin in the mountains. Then had to move close to hospital. Now son is the boater with a 25' starcraft. Now live in the 1000 island area. Pretty, but nothing matches Georgian Bay.
@Jumpshiptravel2 жыл бұрын
I agree. Georgian Bay is number 1 when it comes to freshwater cruising. Although we would really like to do the Trent Severn sometime and into the 1000 islands. We just need more time! Good to hear that your son is continuing with the boating though.

Hi folks. We moved to south western Ontario late last summer and as a result, we are changing our boating home from the Thousand Islands in Eastern Ontario to Georgian Bay. We know zero about boating up there, so looking for pointers for easy and protected anchorages, maybe mooring balls etc. Our base marina is going to be Hindson's in Penetang, so we will begin our exploration in areas near there to start and slowly work our way further. Any thoughts/suggestions, etc are welcome ! Thanks !

Amazing, you guys are going to love Georgian Bay. What do you have for a boat and more importantly, what do you have for an anchor setup? Our friends on “Going Commando” are at Hindsons. It’s a really nice marina there. You will be in a great location to get to many anchorages within a 10-15 mile boat ride. To start off a lot of people like the eastern side of Beausoleil Island and Chimney Bay. They are probably within 6-10 miles of your marina. On the North Side of Beausoleil, Frying Pan bay is a popular spot and well protected. Beausoleil also offers some docks at a small fee for overnights. It’s a good way to get out of the marina if you’re a little less comfortable with anchoring. North of Beausoleil there is Bone Island that has a few spots to anchor around the island as well as hockey stick bay. And across from bone island to the west is Longuissa Bay. Those places alone could keep you guys busy for the first half of the summer. If you would like some more spots let me know, we have so many places we go and would love to share.

@@Jumpshiptravel Thanks for the speedy reply. We have a 41 foot motor yacht, 170 feet of chain with a CQR/Plow Anchor. Sounds like there are some great places to check out close by! Just waiting for my paper charts to arrive via Mail to start looking around for ideas so we can get going once we splash.
@Jumpshiptravel2 жыл бұрын
@@juliecadoret8630 awesome! You have a great setup for Georgian Bay. If you google “Navionics web app” you can look at their digital charts for free and even play around with route planning. We do all of our navigation with the Navionics App on a tablet. It might give you a bit of a head start planning some trips and spots. If you decided to use the app, I could make some routes and send them to you I think. Also, if you run into Going Commando at your marina, Taylor and Dave, they would be willing to give you some ideas of places to go. They appear in some of our videos from the 2021 season!

@@Jumpshiptravel thanks. Yes, our backup is navionics and for planning. Use our chart plotter as well. But we have to replace our tablet for navionics so trying to figure out which one to get. Lol.

@@erinleblanc2694 we usually just use a Samsung tablet. I’ve had 2 over the last 8 years and they have worked well. iPads seem to be longer lasting but considerably more money and I’ve heard people saying they need to be kept out of the sun a little more as they overheat.

Hey Scott. Yes we did meet at Moose Deer Point. Thanks for the message. I believe we were on the way back from our End of August vacation! Those videos should be coming sometime soon if I don’t get overwhelmed with spring boat projects. Hopefully we run into you again on the water this summer!

@@scotthorslin5482 absolutely, the fuel economy was amazing. About 1/3 of the sea ray. Other then sail boaters we are probably the few that aren’t complaining about fuel costs.

Thanks for sharing your vacation. It sure helped get us through the winter. You got me all excited as we are heading to the boat tomorrow to start getting ready for launch😃. So what place has the best fish and chips?
@Jumpshiptravel2 жыл бұрын
We are happy you’ve followed along! Editing the videos has helped get us through the winter too. Enjoy the boat tomorrow. We are hoping to check on Paradiso this weekend as well. As for the best fish and chips, I think both Lex and I agree Gilly’s is number 1. Followed very closely by Herbert’s. But there is just something about Gillys atmosphere, the batter, and the fresh fish that makes it perfect. That all being said, they will be under new ownership this season, so I guess we will have to make all of these videos over again!

Great work on these videos! I watched them and enjoyed them all. I especially like the route plotting segments. I've marked a few spots in my navionics for future reference! Do you manually plot your routes out or just go with the Navionics autoroute? Looking forward to your future videos. The count down is on now!

As always thanks for watching Chris. I always manually plot my route. Gives me the ability to look over the route as I’m making it, and mentally prepare for any possible obstacles I need to think about in advance. Maybe we will see you on the water this summer. Not much longer now!
