I agree with your explanation of the stereotypes. It perfectly illustrates how stereotypes of geographical factors (here the person's residence) often affect a person's status and hence, self-worth as a whole. South Delhi is quite 'westernised' and therefore called or seen as 'modernized'. Other places of Delhi are seen as barbaric due to the comparison with South Delhi. One can even Sanskritize, adopting the stereotypes of the behaviour of South Delhi people, however, such people are seen as 'attention-seeking' or fake. PS: The explanation is absolutely beautiful, hope I did justice to it. Would explore it more through this lens.
