I have a back pack of a north face recon and on the shoulder straps where you said you can clip things on that little thingy on the shoulder straps. You get the dangly part and you can just stuff in and go above the clip thingy

The Recon can add a bungee, so Borealis’s bungee is not replaceable. If you need a backpack with bungee, Recon is better than Borealis. Also, the Recon also with bigger water pockets. The Borealis can only barely hold a small Poland water. I have both Borealis and the Recon.

No they're not removable, but it just looks like extra dangle when its not being utilized
