I live in Pensacola too. I just randomly looked up apple trees in Florida and stumbled on this first. Home town hero she is.

The absolute neatest Food Forest I've ever seen. It is so neat and organize that is very very difficult to call it a forest at all.

I knew an old man who would wrap his banana stalks with multiple layers of newspaper to overwinter them. He would wet the paper down before a freeze, and the iced up outer layers would act as a great insulator for the stalks. If the tops froze, they would not die back near as far. He was in Florihome, Fla.

I'm also in Pensacola and searching anna apple information for growing in our area. At first thought i made a mistake planting apples here as friends laughed at me. Wish I knew these folks to network. Anyway, thank you for the awesome video.

What is Anna Apple?
@HappilyAfterEver3 жыл бұрын
@@HsingSun It's a low chill apple that only needs about 200 chill hours to set fruit. Pollinates well with Dorsett Golden apples (~250 chill hours).

Thank you for your video. I just moved to Crawfordville Florida zone 8b. I have 3 blueberry bushes, 1 red lime which I love and a Hamlin orange tree. Looking to add more and this video gave me some good ideas. I also want to do mulberry or some other type of berry that might do well. 😊

Very nice. Not sure about horse pasture but I know cow pastures are sprayed with Grazon. Residuel chemicals can stay in the cow manure and kill trees or garden veggies. I think it breaks down in three years but would be good to confirm. The farmer should be able to inform you if they spray their pasture. May God bless you.

Why would you plant that pear next to the water meter ? Any root intrusion could be very bad ? It's great that your community welcomes this type of gardening. Good luck, nice vid :).

I'm in Highland County Florida in the south side of Lake Placid. It's in zone 9b toward the bottom. It's the Florida Ridge so the soil is very sandy. The average low in January is 51F. Is their a species that will do well here? When is a good time to plant?
@PeteKanarisGreenDreamsFL4 жыл бұрын
Lots of species that thrive there. I’m in zone 9b at my farm. Best time to plant is now, rainy season.

Attention Florida Avocado growers, i am in search of a variety of avocado that i might be able to grow in Virginia Beach, Va. I want to experiment with trying to espalier an avocado to approximately a height of 6-8 feet and grow it long instead of high. I have several south facing area's that have a wall behind the planting area and it would be easy enough to cover if need be for frost and freeze protection. We live in Zone 8A. Any grower contact info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rich
@tonikos51656 жыл бұрын
mexicola,but plant it right against a south facing wall and protect it heavily during the winter,good luck.Keep us updated.
