I did this today, it was awesome! We did the south fork yesterday and I already knew it was one of the most beautiful canyons and rivers in Northern California, but I hadn't set eyes on the North Fork until today. The beauty was breathtaking. I think we even saw Yankee Jim and his friends hanging out on the river beneath an old bridge... We thought we were going to die TWICE. "Oh shat, hang on!" yelled the guide, and then pandemonium. I loved it, especially the part where I thought I might not make it to the surface because I didn't know which direction was the surface. The guides were fantastic, they pulled us in two at a time!

Chamberlain Falls, where I almost died. But not on the river. We had come from the East Coast to spend a week paddling in California. This was our first day paddling. Had a great time. Our shuttle van met us at the takeout. We loaded the kayaks, and since none of us were driving, had a beer. We got on our way back to camp. We were traveling down a small dirt road along the mountain side. The driver was blinded by the sun and drove into the mountain on the right side. The left side was aboout 2000 feet down. The crash broke he right wheel steering. We sent a couple of people to call the wrecker and we had beer. It was a great week paddling After Sunday paddle, we split up and headed on our own ways.
