Well, I'll just put it here under this video.... Wanted to let ya know that I ended up hiking the Trout Creek NRT loop last week. I'm pretty sure I would not have ever gotten around to doing that one if not for seeing your videos from there. It was pretty nice- 2 nights camping up along the top of that divide, awesome views and no rain. Also had a little bear walk right into my camp! Trails need a little maintenance now in the upper portions. Anyways, thank you for the inspiration!!
@mountainwanderer Жыл бұрын
AWESOME! I've never even heard of anyone else trying it! Run into any snow on the ridge?
@fredmcdonald5067 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it didn't seem like anyone had hiked the loop this year, though I did run into a hunter up by the lake that had motorcycled up from Lost Creek. We were both pretty surprised to see each other. Didn't see anyone else or any human tracks. No snow on the trail getting up to or down from the divide. Just enough snow left for water at high camp on top of the ridge next to Lost Peak and again on a little grassy knob near the junction with East Fork. Glad I didn't camp right at the lake, the symphony of frogs was pretty loud even from up above! and the 360 views were great! About a half mile of big snow drifts along the ridge about midway through, but very consolidated and easy travel. The summit of Black Peak is pretty cool, too, and worth a little extra effort, but that road in from the Montana side was a bit worse than I expected! All in all, it was a very fun and pleasant hike in the mountains! Happy to be able to relate to someone else who's been there too!

I wish I would've got more shots of the trail... but every time I hit the bad spots I had to focus on staying on my feet! (I did go down once, but turns out the that the mud makes for a soft landing). I'm looking forward to @NorthwestWanderer videos. They are out so often that I'm not sure when he'll get to this one. Joey on the other hand, didn't have a camera so there will not be a video from him for this trip. There are rumors that Joey will be releasing videos again at some point, but he disappeared into the Rockies as soon as we said goodbye. Hope you're healing up well!
