There are things which you cannot hide when you play music-authenticity. -You can see that these kids feel very easy with their playing instruments, and that they are also easy at what they play; they are genuine artists!

It’s the DPRK training method. First they break the kids of their spontaneity, then they make them practice day in and day out and punished if it’s not perfect. It’s the life that these kids and their families are destined to live if they want to remain part of the “elite” class.

***** Я сама серьёзно занималась спортом, тренировки изнуряли, часто получала травмы. слушала нарекания тренеров, но мне нравился спорт и я занималась. Так в спорте, балете, музыке-везде... Не думаю, что мальчика учили при помощи паяльника, нет следов паяльника, есть хорошие умные педагоги.

They are ALL so talented but that little girl... she is beyond gifted! I know how difficult it is to play the "janggu," and let me tell you, she's something else! Although I admire and love these children's talent, I feel so much compassion for them because I know that they are being deprived of a healthy, happy childhood. It's a real travesty that they are living a life shackled to the heavy chains of that dictatorship and they will never get to experience real childhood. May God bless them!

Why is everybody being so stupid and racist? It is a great honor for these kids to get to perform and uphold tradition. It's way better than what the rest of the world is taught, kids wasting their time becoming lazy, stupid and racist. Not to forget that children now have almost no idea about their own cultural background or even the value of history and honor. Now people are proud of their kid getting a sticker on some useless assignment. Wow i would love for the world to be a little more like Asian countries in actually teaching kids about culture and honest hard work.

I find that children this young can play these instruments so well. I have friends who play Jjanggu for 3 ears and r no where near this good, i myself play a traditional instrument called the Buk for 2 years.. although different, its still alot of work.. these children are talented.. but the fact that talents like these are what determines the family's well being is saddening. Some of the comments made from a while ago make me angry and sad how people don't really understand... The jokes you make are their reality whether they know it or not... its is the reality of people who don't know that there is another way to live... its really saddens me how people think these jokes you are making are alright.. what if that was your reality? would you makes jokes? no! im sure if you heard it you would cry... the talents of these children are amazing hands down.. but their reality is what is the saddening part. please know that making jokes like that is not really a joke...
