As an average South Korean... I feel a bit of language barrier when watching this film..
@wessam24535 жыл бұрын
Why?
@candicehoneycutt43185 жыл бұрын
Wessam Baghdadi NK is so isolated that their language has become different, like it froze in time and then evolved on its own a little. South Korean is full of loan words. They're not unintelligible, but if you can understand bit of Korean in general, you can hear an audible difference in the languages.
@niccoramos79655 жыл бұрын
Casual conversations between North and South Koreans would be possible only the accent, the sentence style and some vocabulary differences would be the biggest hindrance but at first would be very awkward because they sound different from each other yet they would realize they speak almost the same words. However in terms of technical conversation say for example, Medical, Economics, Science etc. North Korea still uses words and concepts from the Soviets and has actually invented words on its own instead of borrowing. While South Korea is still using some Chinese concepts and symbols and very heavy on US English loan words. South Koreans use words like 컵(cup), 워터(water), 아이스(ice), 서비스(service), 밴드(band), 볼륨 (Volume) from English. while North Koreans would still use 잔, 물, 빙, 봉사, 악단..음량.. for those words This could be a very big issue if Korea became united.
@ivoryvignettes4 жыл бұрын
@@candicehoneycutt4318 Their language neither froze nor are they "isolated" (they are sanctioned by US, big differnce). They simply have their own dialect or language. South Korea, as you correctly said, has loan woards, also due to US impact. Not trying to be butt-hurt here, but not happy about making it sound like NK is backwards. They're not.
@candicehoneycutt43184 жыл бұрын
@@ivoryvignettes I never said anything of the sort. The word 'like' was a very important word in my previous comment which you seem to have completely ignored. NK is isolated, not backwards. Not even sure how you reached that idea 😂

They sound different from South Koreans for sure. But even in South Korea you have different dialects (Busan for example). The last 20 years South Korea has been able to enjoy a booming economy resulting in a renaissance in arts, literature, and language. So, watching something like this reminds of the days as a child visiting my grand parents some odd 40 years ago. South Koreans and North Koreans are the same people that have been separated by nationalism, that used to be a common view but as time goes on the younger generation don't see things the same way.
