From our keyboard perspective it's easy to criticize but a much more difficult situation when you're in the middle of it. In most cases there simply is not enough time to react.

@@nix4644 he reacted great!, imo he did everything right. but i have to mention that e.g. in california people are told to keep their speed and stay in their lane during a car chase because it makes them more predictable for the cops. changing lanes quickly on a busy street isn't always as easy as one may think. it's different when there's a car chase going on on a single lane road, you can almost always pull over to the side at any time. i'm not talking about the idiots who don't notice anything and block a cop in a chase instead of stepping on the pedal for a moment so that they can quickly pass whoever and then make room. they just cruise around and otherwise just mind their own businesses.

Many municipalities/ especially other than state agencies wont chase at all unless suspect has killed and is an immediate threat to the public....some states like arkansas dont play....they will chase a jay walker to the end of the earth and pit him if they can...the state spends alot of money on lawsuits, settlements, liability insurance and replacement vehicles or bodywork ...state agencies typically have larger budgets and deeper pockets to pay the before mentioned costs...but chase policies very greatly between agencies even state patrols

I’m surprised those top heavy police Chevy Tahoes were able to keep up with a Nissan Altima which is both fast and more aerodynamic. The two policemen in those two Tahoes are great drivers. They need to be issued with Chargers to catch the bad guys even faster also with certification to pit like state Troopers. The Altima driver thought he’d lose the Tahoes in one of the many highway exits but those cops anticipated which possible turn he was about to take in advance.

Tips for fleeing from police. Tip 1, choose a vehicle with more horsepower than your standard riding lawnmower! Tip 2, choose a state that does not have ASP in it! Tip 3, be willing to do things in the vehicle that you would not even attempt to do in a rental. Tip 4, know the roads you will be traveling better than the guys you will be fleeing from. Tip 5, always keep a full tank of gas. Tip 6, be willing to lose your life. Tip 7, have at least working knowledge of the capabilities of the vehicle you are driving, including braking distances and curb weights. Tip 8, have a plan and a route, but be readily able to improvise. Tip 9, know who you are fleeing from and what their vehicle is capable of. Tip 10, when it's over, be grown enough to admit your mistake and don't try to make stupid claims or excuses. In reality, the best tip is to just not run or do anything to make cops chase you.

the grappler also has a decisive disadvantage, for example, that the cop's vehicle can get out of control if the suspect's vehicle moves in a certain direction as soon as the grappler _grabs_ hold of it. as a result, vehicles have already rolled over during tests. if it doesn't catch the tire, but just wraps himself around the axle, then it works as if the suspect is towing the cop. the system is not yet 100% mature... then rather the GPS dart or a helicopter. quite apart from the fact that AK doesn't have to worry as much, they already have a very high success rate in their chases.

When you grow up, take a math class and get a driver's license. With your new found math skills, figure out how long it takes a 100 MPH vehicle to travel 1/2 mile or so. Then, with your new found driving skills, measure how often you look in your rear view mirrors. How far do those 100+ MPH cars move in the time between mirror checks? Those people who you want ticketed have been driving for longer than you've been alive. They are better drivers than you are. Several thousand people don't see the blue lights in time to pull over. Several thousand very experienced drivers. There's a reason why those mature, adult, responsible, skilled drivers don't see the blue lights in time. And it has nothing to do with how many GTA game levels they've reached nor how many pursuit videos they've watched on MyTube. Next rant is about how many of MY tax dollars does it cost to "Lock up the passing lane campers". I had a couple cops race by me yesterday running code. I saw their lights approaching because I do check my mirrors but I never heard the siren until they were right on top of me. The sound insulation of the car plus a radio on kinda low meant I didn't hear them until they were within about 50 feet. Because of comments like yours I was literally watching and listening to see how far away I heard them. Even at 50 feet they were barely audible. It's pretty easy to see how drivers can miss the cops being there until the last second. Next ask yourself what's easier to pass, me staying in my lane and the cop going around me or me trying to get out of the cop's way while he's trying to get around me. I'm more unpredictable when he's on top of me and I start getting out of his way and he's trying to pass. Lord knows where I'll go. It's easier for him if I don't move. However, since I do watch my mirrors I moved over when the cops were about 1/5 of a mile away and they passed with no problem.

A powerful but fragile (relatively speaking) vehicle like a Charger would sustain unacceptably expensive damage - maybe even be written off - during the maneuver, whereas the purpose-built sturdy Cruiser . . . .
