Yeah brothet! Aint nothing like working on a crew that everyone knows their job and goes to work. I was blessed with great crews, guys that knew their shit and had your back and you theirs. We were the slowest ladder in the city (Trenton NJ FD L2), run wise but when we had a job, it was blowing out the windows, going thru the roof or a set up the pipe cuz the building is ah commin' down! Loved the job, miss the guys and the job but not the bullshit. Stay Safe my brother.

Good job brothers! From TFD just up the river on the Jersey side. Retired L-2 TFD, 26 years, now enjoying the Florida Keys. I remember setting up L2, an '87 Simond-Duplex/LTI. Same outriggers and turntable ladder ops box but our ladder ops box was on the left. Brought back fond memories. Always admired PFD, good department that knows how to throw BIG water!

Posting from Australia, what are most of the roofs made of??? Over here zincaloom iron, corrugated steel, terracotta tiles, and slate shingles are mostly used
@haroldenglish943 Жыл бұрын
Depends in where you are in the US. Old cities in North East with flat roofs as seen here are a type of rubber/tar. Most pitched roofs are mostly shingle. More rural areas you'll find metal. In Southwest US, tin and terra cotta. Just totally depends on what part of the country one lives in.

The roof sector should have had SCBA's, a TIC and a hoseline up there. As most of you know, TIC's work great when looking for extension

They are all crying about needing more gear for cancer but doesn't wear scba on fire scene I don't cry when they die

I always laugh when a touchie Feely type speaks about this, that, or the other. Men shouldn't fuck each other in the ass, dress up like women, nor shake hands like a wet noodle but here we are. Let me guess, you support time outs for fires too? How mean of you to force water on fire against it's will. That's racist. How about you do you with your Kommiefornia ideology and Philly do what Philly does. And may the Two never mix. Next your going to tell me about tail board riding and how that's bad too.

That fella is working in smoke, doing roof operations without SCBA. That makes this ENTIRE scene an absolute DISGRACE. Incident Commanders should be sacked. With what we know of carcinogens in modern structure fires, that guy, and ANYONE onscene that was aware he had no SCBA on are a disgrace to the brotherhood
@poppajoebeneckesr7573 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for pointing this out, The Truck Officer and the IC should be all over them, there's a reason we are issued PPE and SCBA, unless you are a mind reader anything and everything that can go wrong most likely will, including falling thru. Yes great job, but incredibly reckless and irresponsible. You put your brothers at risk to have to save you for your carelessness

So I’m curious , why do you guys still use those helmets ? Is it just to expensive to fit the entire department with leathers ?
@wayfaerer320 Жыл бұрын
They're more comfortable than leathers, way lighter, just as protective if not better, and it's also a Philly thing.
@omfgCantGetaUsername Жыл бұрын
I don't think the modern traditional style helmets that the FDNY use are leather anyway. I looked them up. Bullard and Cairn have them. They're made of some other type of lightweight composite material instead of old leather like back in the day. I don't see the reason PFD can't upgrade to them in yellow color like they're wearing now. I saw the LAFD upgraded to the similar type, but still have optional helmets similar to their older ones.
