Ah, the good old days. When meals where included in the price. We lived in Germany in the 80s and early 90s and would use North Sea Ferries to visit home for christmas and new year most years. We travelled on the Norland, Norstar and their sisters Norsea and Norsun. I preferred the latter two due to having cinemas, which for a kid made the crossing less boring :) Then P&O got their grubby, greedy, mitts on NSF and the service took a dive and got much more expensive. We've used DFDS or Scandinavian since as they got from Newcastle which is much closer. Last used NSF in 1997 on the Norsea... or whatever she was renamed too. You could still see the metal letters of "NORSEA" through the P&O paint.

Back in the good old days, meals were included in the ferry price, Most took advantage of this. The announcement, one heard quite often is saying, 'The restaurant is presently fully occupied, further seats will be available in 30mins. In the meantime we suggest you acquaint yourself with the bars and public areas.
