This has been one of my "bucket list" trips. I love the north shore so much, and this would be one way to get my fix of the piney, rugged north shore. I even have the flyrod for the job.....just need to figure out what patterns to tie, and find some places to camp.

Caught my first steelhead on the north shore and then ended up moving to Oregon for 10 years and became an addict. I live in Alaska now and wish we had steelhead up here more. We have them on kenai peninsula but haven’t gotten down to fish them yet. I also assume copper river drainage has steelhead and might explore that option. Plenty of salmon everywhere but something about a steelhead that is missing in salmon fishing.

Fishing With Will The Lake Superior Steelhead is not truly native. It is a west coast strain planted many many many years ago

Matt Remark as a fish biologist it makes me cringe when midwesterners call rainbow trout steelhead, and I will fully admit I care way more than I should and it doesn’t hurt anything to call them steelhead

Stfu it gives many more people an opportunity to fish for them, and although it isn’t it saltwater it’s still a steelhead. Same strain and the Great Lakes behave like an sea besides the salt so get your western purist bs out of here
