I love how he describes filming the kissing scene as "a very nice way to spend the afternoon". His smile when he says that is so cute.

I wonder if any one else is shocked at him reading so many books with romatic and charming charecters? Obviously he is a remarkable person who has honestly stayed true to his roots. I think that is the most admireable thing about him. He has all the charm and fortunes as the men he portrays and wish him well in this industry and life. He deserves to go far.

I've seen all the Jane Austin DVDS and other period films and would have to say that this was the best. The sound track was amazing; Richard Armitages character was passionate and had an intense presence. So many scenes I loved....the stair walk (that look from the window).....the dinner and of course that end.

The magical triangle of true English gentlemen is now closed and complete for me with its 3rd side: Mr. Thornton of North & South! Mr. Rochester (Timothy Dalton), Mr. Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen) and Mr. Thornton (Richard Armitage). My favourite gentlemen through out the English literature/drama.

garvzc, Thanks for the hint. I have read Wives and Daughters and loved it. Cranford, I have yet to read though. I did pick up my copy of P&P to check for the reference you made but I cannot find that they even touched each other during that walk when they suddely found themselves alone (Jane & Binley strolled off and Kitty went to Lucas Lodge). Maybe the reason is that I do not have the novel in English and that the kissing where perhaps "lost" in the translation.

It's really a very brilliant film, isn't it? I found it very good, despite the bad opinions voiced about it. Someone commented on it being good to begin with, but then progressing it became a little tedious, and the romance too mushy. I did cringe a little when he gives her the flower, but mostly when she kisses his hand..a little too much there, I think...but all in all I liked it very much.

garvzc, The first version of P&P was written in the 1790s, that is long before the "victorian era". The first edition came 1813, which is during the Regency-period in England. I have not read the novel recently. When/where does Lizzie kiss Mr. Darcy's hand?
