I have been so excited to hear your review of this book! I'm glad that you liked it. I think that it is such a funny story and I adore Mr. Tilney's character. It is definitely one of my favorite books of Austen's. My daughter finished this book a couple of months ago and it is now one of her favorite books as well.

@@kelleymcfadin Thank you, Kelley! 😄 I had so much fun reading it and wasn’t expecting to laugh so much. It’s definitely one of my top three Jane Austen’s! I’m so glad your daughter enjoyed it as well. I can’t wait for my girls to be old enough to read Austen, too. 🥹

I love this conversation about NA! it's been a few years I think since I read it, but I'll be reading it again later this year in our Jane Austen 250th Birthday Celebration. I did not realize LLP had read and discussed this one! Isabella Thorpe is like a Southern Belle kinda character, lol. Comes across sweet and polite but has a sting! Excellent point about the irony of Tilney and Catherine's falling in love being so NORMAL. I never thought of that but you are so right! Loved this video!

@@insearchofwonder that’s a great idea! I didn’t realize it’s been 250 years since Jane Austen was born. The podcast was so fun to read alongside the book, they did Mansfield Park as well and I loved it too! Thank you for the kind words 😄

I'm glad you enjoyed Northanger Abbey so much, I think it's very underrated! I'm not familiar with this podcast, but if you are listening to it to find out more about the historical context of a novel, they did you a disservice, because it is NOT set in the Victorian era. It is set in the Regency period. When Jane Austen died, Queen Victoria had not even been born. ETA (after finishing the video--excellent review!): My favorite when I was younger was S&S. Now my favorite is Persuasion, I read it every year. My least favorite is Emma--I think NA is way funnier! And more romantic--but in a real way, as you said. I love Henry Tilney, and their dynamic together.

@@lizzy-wx4rx it was me who made the mistake and not the podcast because you are exactly right and I don’t know why I always want to say Victorian 😅🙈 but I agree! Northanger Abbey is definitely underrated by most! My favorite is Mansfield Park but Eleanor Dashwood in S&S is my favorite heroine. My heart just broke and cringed for Anne so hard in Persuasion but I loved the story. Emma is also my least favorite but I still enjoyed it and will be posting my review of that one next. Thank you for your thoughts! 😄

@@humblyhaley Well, both are 1800s--there is a famous version of P&P made in the 1940s (actually quite good!) where they are all wearing Victorian costumes... Looking forward to your review of Emma! (Just wanted to add--yes, I do enjoy Emma, too, "least favorite Jane Austen" is still very good!)
