I was watching this beautiful cutter tacking past us up Trincomali last week and admiring their technique. When I read the name on the stern I thought, huh, I know that boat, but it just wouldn't come. 15 minutes later it occurred to me that of course that was Alfie! She sure looks beautiful under sail! Here's to a great summer sailing...

I was all ready to tell you how much I love my North sails and how bullet proof they are and how they are as crisp as the day they were born but then I saw yours! Those sails look like they are made of steel! I can't wait to see you out there! So glad you found our channel and we love the sails, great shape and we can sail close hauled upwind 12-15 knots of breeze with some decent waves to punch through, while maintaining over 7 knots consistently and up over 8 knots at times. :). The sails are not cheap though, but worth looking into if you want max performance.

Is the UV strip white or doesn't it need one? With such high tech sails are you planning on racing?

The UV strip is white. Although our boat is definitely not a race boat we do plan to do some fun races with it. :)

3di is a joke 😢 it’s a ticking time bombshell and can only sail in a small range

Norths are being a little disingenuous here. The sails are still made in several panels and joined together. The shape is achieved by broadseaming, the seams being glued rather than glued and stitched. Their innovation is in the tape and the thermoset rather than thermoplastic adhesive. The 3di sails are very expensive and Norths would only offer a one year warranty. I will be very interested to see how long they last....
