I don't know how anyone can hate on this. This guy has probably the most clean, smooth yet hard strike I've ever seen. He's got sick hands too. Even players like patrick kane look down to make plays. You don't need your head up all the time to know where to play is going and how to get the puck from point A to point B.

this guy is an ex professional player who has devoted his life to northern edge. he works with all ages of players from NHLers to mites and is one of the best instructors ive ever had the opportunity to skate with. before you say shit about his teaching methods why dont you try out his camp for a week and tell me what you have to say after

Awesome video. To all the haters...Head up or down, this is a great training tool. Once players get familiar with the drill, the muscle memory and the skill itself... then you challenge them to get their head up.

you guys do realize this is just a demonstration right? and that im sure if in a game situation when he could possibly get checked he would keep his head up. also even if you watch the nhl, alot of the pros have their heads down when doing certain things and trying to keep control of the puck. "head down".... no shit youll have your head down while doing certain drills and shit you dont do everyday

the real trick to everything you see him doing knees over toes shoulders over knees.. top hand outside elbow at all times gives you great hands.. you're always down in your posture ready to make a play.. no one teaches the game inside the lines anymore they show you drills and wonder why the kids don't get it in the games

@boipinoi60410 жыл бұрын
Im new to ice hockey. Does the head need to be up doing these drills? If so, how the fuck do you avoid stepping on those sticks?
@VaporHockey9310 жыл бұрын
boipinoi604 the head always needs to be up because if you play bantam hockey or up, you will get destroyed if you have the puck with your head down. also it lets you see where the play is going and what you can do with the puck. another point is if you do the drills with your head up, eventually you'll get used to playing like that
@boipinoi60410 жыл бұрын
TheHockeyPlayer93 Awesome. Thanks for the advice. Good luck with the hockey endeavour.

TheHockeyPlayer93 And the question to how to keep your head up, practice using peripheral vision!
@Ithasaname10 жыл бұрын
You're correct Andy Louie, heads up hockey is key. I used to go to these camps and the guy with the red skate chassis (Yuro) used to be my high school coach. Even though his head is down in most of these drills, he constantly stressed keeping your head up. He's just trying fully execute the drills for demonstration sake.
