The Sun is reaching the peak of its 11 year long activity cycle. If you live at a latitude greater than about 45º N or S, there's a good chance you might see one in the next few years. I saw them myself for the first time around the same time this vid was made (probably from the same series of solar eruptions), from suburban Calgary in Canada (about 51º N)

I first saw the lights in 1990 when i was 17. 3 of us were in a car way out in the hills of Scotland smoking joints. We were stoned. I said "what the hell is that in the sky" It was the absolute beginning of the show, then the colours started. We realised what it was, none of us had ever seen tgem before. We got out the car and within 10 minutes the whole sky was ablaze with red blue and green. It was the most captivating time of my life-i felt like crying as the beauty was too much to bear-and being stoned just made it feel somewhat otherworldly. We stayed outside for 90 minutes watching them subside. We didnt want it to stop and when the sky went black we just looked at each other in silence with huge smiles on our faces. Ill never ever forget that feeling.

@@naninolovyou6388 you are so welcome.i would have loved anyone who is interested in the auroras to have been there that night as it was apparently one of the strongest auroras we had had in years.and the fact we hed driven up to a closed ski resort high in the mountains away from any light pollution gave us the best view ever. It started as a tiny glob of flickering dull light to our left. The dancing of the lights as they were gaining intesity produced arms of light which just rippled and moved from our left until all above us was complete colur-but it was moving.thats what was freaking me out how the movement was so huge but silent. It is without doubt the most amazing natural phenomenon to ever happen to me. I remember how it felt at the time but now when i think back i dont get the actual body feeling if you understand what i mean, like my body was shivering and tingling cos i was seeing something so rare and special and it made me feel so lucky to be there in that moment. I only saw them once more in my whole life and they were nothing nearly as good as the first time-a weaker show with only greens but still cool. I believe the aurora to be the most beautiful natural phenomenon a human can experience.nothing comes close.

I feel like not knowing they were coming would have made it more magical. I saw them in 2018 but me and my friends had seen on the news that a big solar flare was coming and the lights would be visible further south than usual. NASA had a map and my family has a lake house right where they’d be visible, so we drove out there and did shrooms and smoked weed. Sure enough the sky was moving and there were all these weird colors. It looked like the sun was rising at 3AM. Shit happened more spontaneously back in the 90s; I can barely remember it.

I saw the Aurora for the first time in my life last night from the South of the UK, I was out for my night-time walk and suddenly I noticed the aurora, and as I got to darker and darker spots up on the hills, my joy increased and I became a wide eyed child literally laughing and crying with joy - more pure joy that i've felt in years. The lights were so bright they cast a shadow... I saw the magnetic fields lines of the earth lit up with ethereal beauty that I will never forget, curtains of light stretched from one side of the sky to the other. I suddenly felt more connected to the universe than I ever have. And I now have another sparkle ✨ in a part of my heart. ... I think one day I'll have to live in the far north so I can go out at night and bathe in that beauty. ❤❤❤ ... If we could all just gaze up at this and put our weapons down 🌠✨🙏🕊️🫶

Maybe somehwre, your ancestry saw it and felt the same way. There were many travelers from Scandinavia. I am Asian and white mixed. I have felt the same when I experience Scandinavian culture and history, as well as seeing china. It feels like I Am brought home. You will find that feeling too, rather, you will feel it. If you have hope that you will find it, and never stop marching on your way to find it. Life gets better, and it’s beautiful. The gentle dance of the lights, allow them to convey that to you when you watch them. Allow yourself to feel there in the moment, and you will realise we are ok, we are lucky and we are blessed

When the camera goes up and it shows that blue/purple part in the upper atmosphere, or at least higher, above the green…that has made me want to visit to see them.

I never in my wildest dreams imagined that I'd see the aurora borealis from my front yard in Missouri. But, as millions now know, it *really* happened! I understand the hypnotic spell they cast on you as they dance and ripple in the sky. I had flashes and streamer directly overhead, sometimes moving like waves of flashes moving across the sky from north, over my head, to the south. I saw both the green and the magenta curtains and streamers. I had to force myself to finally go to bed.

@@chrillepixlaWelcome to today's edition of "Debunking KZbin's assholes"! In this episode, we'll be discussing how a commercial airline flight flies at around two thousand miles in the air! However, to reach those heights, the plane has to gradually ascend, giving it the opportunity to pass through the phenomenon that is the Aurora Borealis! For reference, the Aurora Borealis lights occur 60-620 miles (97-1,000 kilometers) above Earth's surface. Perfectly plausible for someone to fly through them and have enough time for pictures! Alternatively, the pilot in question may have been flying a smaller, private, non-commercial airplane; which would require a much lower altitude for a flight and putting it right above, if not right inside the Aurora Borealis threshold. Well, that's it for today's episode of "Debunking KZbin's Assholes", see you guys next time!

Hi Jonna I live far away in the south in a small town on the mountain tops with no light pollution. We all gathered a few days back and observed the multicolour aurora 🌌 accompanied with a meteor shower and a pink strawberry full moon. It was so beautiful that it didn’t even feel we were standing on the earth. The moon illuminated the night sky and the southern lights danced across the mountains. We could actually see them on ground level as we were really high up and there were a few clouds other wise they were really high up

My father was an Electrical Engineer. He worked with NASA in PR on SETI and then moved to working at White Sands Missile Range. I grew up seeing the most incredible things. Sights I could NOT share with anyone because the telescopes were not allowed to the public. . The Northern Lights is the one thing that I have always wanted to see. It always looked like a beautiful dance. Like my ballet classes but just in the sky. I told my father that one day I would be on the ISS. That time has passed me, but this one is still within my grasp. I lost my father 3 years ago and I wish he could have shared all of the things he worked on. We know so so little about our world, and even less about space. But, it is a beautiful, almost spiritual feeling to watch this. Thank you 🙏- ❤❤❤❤

2023 has been a crazy year for auroras. I've seen them 3 times total this year, with the two most recent being the best shows I've seen in my life. They were both caused by G4 (Kp 8) geomagnetic storms and filled the entire sky with vivid auroras in central MN. Sharp green pillars and extremely fast pink flashes filled the sky, nothing like I've seen in person. I've been up to Iceland before and the northern lights I saw there were blown out of the water by these shows.

I get it, Jane. Nature affects me the same way. I get emotional. It's God's gifts. It's our survival. It's magical and works in its own way . But this is something special. Truly magnificent! Enjoy it again. I know I am.

First, your CHOICE of all of the music in here is absolutely PERFECT. Next, I find myself struggling between wanting to just close my eyes into the music and then I'm like 'no! you have to LOOK!' I keep going back and forth with that. This is possibly the most beautiful half an hour I've ever witnessed. Thank you yet again, Jonna.

That's exactly how it's made me feel! Excited but calm, and wanting lay under this sky all bundled up with a fire. If I close my eyes, I can see it and feel it!! I get butterflies but also an amazing calming feeling I've never had before. It's so hard to explain the feeling of being so excited but also so calm and fulfilling!! Thank u Jonna this really is a masterpiece!!

First time its traces were also reported in India. I won't term it as any ‘magic’ of our planet or anything in a positive way because the increasing strength of the aurora is due to the harmful effect of climate change which is not good.

Hi Jonna, I'm from Sri Lanka, a tropical country in South Asia, and I have been constantly used to bright sunshine throughout the year. I moved to Finland six months ago for my studies and had a hard time getting used to the cold, the darkness, seasonal depression, being all alone and away from family for the first time and even the snow. Your videos taught me how to appreciate all of it, to love the cold, to play in the snow, to walk among the trees and appreciate the beauty of white snowy surroundings that I wasn't used to, to admire the change in seasons and to embrace change and adapt to it. I got through my first-ever winter and enjoyed every bit of it and now that it is spring, I even miss the snow and cold a little bit. And I wanted to say this since I owe some of my happiness to you and your videos. Thank you for all the support and help. Lots of love🌹

THANK YOU JONNA! For these outstanding beautiful and awe-inspiring moments! I live in the middle of Canada, so on very cold nights these amazing lights come to fluidly dance in our skies. When I was taking night classes years ago, I would see Aurora Borealis as I waited for my bus. It has always brought awe to me. It makes me feel small. But truly to me they look like the brushstrokes of GOD. I thank my Heavenly Father for this Wonder, that not everyone gets to experience! I thank you again Jonna for bringing this to the people that have never witnessed such a wonderous sight!
