Gaston what is the payload for your ram? I just purchased a 2023 Ram 3500 HD cab and chassis put on an aluminum bed and bought a 2020 Northern Lite Sportsman. Thinking of doing what you are doing. Just turning 72.

3990 lb payload...My Ram 3500 HD diesel dully doesn't even know it's got a fully over loaded 9-6-Q in it's bed...this truck hauls ass. I started full time Nomad freedom on the road @ 76, the KTM dirt bike keeps me fit and healthy, I'll be 84 in March.and this is my 8th year on the road of boondocking only in great places with outstanding views and challenging places to ride. Gotta love that KTM 300...enjoy your adventures life is short.

I know at one time you had problems with rats getting in around your truck engine and you kept the hood up at night. You still get rat problems?

Dan, I always prop the hood up about 4 or 5 inches with a stick or rock or whatever is handy to keep varmints from hanging out in the engine compartment. If the wind blows the hood is shut to hold down the external padded windshield Sun/Hail shield. Large Ice Hail is my biggest concern as I boondock at higher elevations, The cabover bed plastic thermal escape hatch is also padded. If hail breaks through that it will fill the bedroom up with Ice. With today's climate changes due to the Suns back to back CME's as I see it, boondocking has become quite an adventure now as I just turn the ignition key to follow the weather to my liking.
