The wacky rig is deadly effective. It's something I tend to use when I'm fairly confident I know where the bass are sitting, and I often use it as a clean up technique when I am fishing topwater. I cast it close to the bass or to the structure where I suspect one might be hiding. If you can get the bass to see it while it's slowly falling to the bottom, it's almost a guaranteed bite, even when the bass are sluggish. Every time I cast it out, I let it fall all the way to the bottom, and let it sit for 5-10 seconds on slacked line, without moving it. I keep my eyes on my line (high visibility braid). When the bass picks it up, it won't detect your line because it is slacked, but you'll see your line moving as it starts to swim away. That's when you set the hook! I use an EWG hook - in deeper water or around structure I sometimes will use a weedless wacky jig head to get it down to the bottom a little quicker. If the bait isn't picked up after 5-10 seconds, I will either slowly drag it a couple feet and let it sit again, or twitch it 2-3 times vertically and let it fall again. I rig my worms with a short piece of 3/8" clear heat shrink tubing (prepared beforehand). Preparing the worm this way extends the life of each worm substantially. I have gone through 20+ bass on a single worm with very little damage to the bait. Enjoyed the video - keep it up!

Nice kayak trip with those LMB. The last one had a big head with lots of room to grow. Ok, I gotta meet ya half way with the pizza and settle for thin crust at minimum. Great vid, Matt!

Love the remote outdoor cabin. When I was younger I was in the Boy Scouts (Eagle Scout) so I was outdoors all of the time, and after Scouting I did a ton of outdoors stuff. For some reason, I married a woman who doesn't like outdoors stuff 😂. What was I thinking? I'm going to try to ease her into the outdoors with trips to a cabin just like that one. Wacky Rig fishing? I cast it out there weightless and initially I wait so that it sinks down to the bottom. It can take a little bit, like 5-10 seconds to reach that bottom even in shallow water. Then I give the rod 2 or 3 quick LITTLE pops and reel in the slack. Then I let it sit a couple more seconds to sink back down. Always 2 to 3 pops and let it sink down.

You know what's funny, Matt? I only watched half of your video before I left that last comment about "Why did I marry someone who doesn't like the outdoors?" because I was at work and I couldn't finish the rest at the time, but I didn't want to lose the comment that I had been writing (I write them as I watch sometimes) I go to finish the second half of the video and I see your advertisement on divorce. 😂 Were you trying to tell me something there, buddy? Cheaper to keep her, Matt. I won't be able to afford to fish if I get a divorce 😂 Pizza casserole looked great. 🍕
