Many years ago when I was at the withernsea primary school the whole of the infant school went from Hull to Bridlington on the train!

The distinctive drone of the 158s, but they are fairly quiet once cruising. Very sad to how many railway platforms have disappeared to the motor car at Paragon station. EYMS still survive but their vehicles are a far cry from their engimatic fleet of the the 1950s and '60s. Thanks for putting this on.

MrDavros1234 Very true, but from May, there will be 155's serving the Worlds Coast Route to Scarborough. 158's are very popular along the route. I can imagine of how things used to be like in the early era. Was there sidings as well at Hull Paragon? There was a line to Whitensea as well?

Hi Ricky,Just looking in my 1948 Ian Allan rail atlas the line to Withernsea boasted stations at Marfleet, Hedon, Rye Hill, Keyingham, Ottringham, Winestead (goods yard) and Patrington en route. In Bridlington itself there was an extensive goods yard where the Tesco now stands plus extensive carriage sidings on one side, and of course the locomotive depot where the B&Q/texas(?) store stands. Can't say I'm looking forward to the new dmus tbh. I believe there were 11 platforms at Hull Paragon iirc.

How long is the jorney from Bridlington to Doncaster? is there a trolley service onboard?
@RickyNowis6 жыл бұрын
Most services are fast to Doncaster with a journey taking around 2 hours plus crew change at Hull. There is no trolley service on board. Here's a tip, there is a Tesco's next to Bridlington station so its worth getting light snacks from there.
