Got all 3 over in Kalamazoo Michigan! 6 northern shovelers (lifer), 3 song sparrows, and an eastern meadowlark in the heart of downtown kalamazoo (another lifer), love your guy's channel!

wooo grats on the shovelers!!! I saw my first Song Sparrow today. I was walking my dog and brought my camera and heard it singing, found it perched on a rooftop singing proud. Whip out my camera to snap it, only to find my SD card adapter was missing its microSD. LOL. I run back home with my dog, up the stairs in muddy boots, grabs the microSD and race back to the sparrow. Still there! and some good shots from him too! Happy birding!!

Saw my very first northern shovelers at Nisqually Wildlife Refuge in Washington State last weekend (1/26/2023). I was so happy! Seriously, the only ducks I've ever seen before were white domesticated ducks, mallards and wood ducks. It's my mission this year to see many more!

Saw sooooo many northern shovelers this last weekend at one of the bird observatory ponds near Austin tx. They are cool birds. Love the variety of species in your video. Great job!

Just saw my 3rd challenge bird, with 2 days to spare (phew…..) - Eastern Meadowlark (single bird in Washtenaw county park). Had already seen both the Song Sparrow & Northern Shoveler (numerous of both). Enjoyed the challenge and really enjoy your site.

Nice find! Not sure I'll get the chance to see one. At least I have the song sparrow. It's almost laughable how common they are around here.

Mallards walk up from a pond in our yard to eat below our bird feeders. Definitely the most unique feeder bird for me! They nest in our backyard.
@BadgerlandBirding2 жыл бұрын
For sure! That's cool! Our parents have had a couple Mallards randomly come to their feeders sometimes too.

Can us Wisconsinites get an extension? I went to Lake Michigan a couple times, saw a million greater/lesser scaups, and my first Northern Harrier, but no Shoveler. I'm still 0/3 but have gone out almost every day! Edit: I guess posting this was good luck! No Shoveler, but I saw two Song Sparrows today! One down, two to go!

I hope all of them haven’t started moving north. I still haven’t found one in the Carolinas. I only have the song sparrow so far. There used to be so many Eastern meadowlarks around when I was a kid, but their numbers have seriously declined.

I'm in the same boat with the Shovelers! I've seen reports some are still hanging around in Louisiana so I image you would still have some! - Derek
