I'm so glad you did this video and I completely agree with using plants and things that benefit the dragon. I can't wait to see it completed and the process.

Home slice, I get what you're saying, but there are 110% Springtails and Isopods in Australia. Try Exo Terra Stone Desert substrate to get the look you're after

I faced the same substrate challenge, I chose to use slate with heatmats under them, topped with a thin layer of excavator clay colored with red oxide to mimic the rusty australian outback. (My type locality model was the gorges in northern australia, specifically Hancock Gorge.) When the clay dries on top of the slate it looks great and natural. And when the dragon empties the bowels of hell it is easy to clean or replace with fresh clay.

Hello I know this is not the right video but I just got jungle mix substrate and I was wondering if I could still feed my gecko live crickets after the crickets have been crawling on the substrate I’m sorry for bothering you but nobody else on KZbin will answer me thank you

This is cool. I love how natural you are trying to do it. I am trying to go little piece of australia for my bearded dragon too. This is my fist bioactive and I am still trying to figure things out. SO far for grass I have ordered in red rooster grass. I don't know if that is allowed in UK or not. Also planning on putting in purslane varieties, and for cleanup crews apparently there are also a lot of dessert darling beetles in australia, so I am planning on adding a mealworm colony to it and that can also stimulate natural hunting behaviors and he can keep the population in check if they get to be too much... Though right now I am at the trying to sprout the grass seeds so it will be a few months before I can move too much further with this.

Two years later and while bioactive set ups are more common, I’ve never seen anyone use any edible plants in the enclosures, ever. Except for growing aquatic plants for turtles to eat, in their water.

Im using lino flooring at the moment as easy to clean and not slippy but I'm like you I'd still like to see the enclosure more natural looking 🤔🤔🤔

Research and only deal with a reputable breeder. Bearded dragons are very inexpensive and readily available from well known reputable breeders online.
