RPG found that you can jump a little higher when you shoot the shotgun during a jump. It's easier to do when running and can help you grab a higher block with climbing gloves.

If you want to kill a shopkeeper on an ice level, but have no weapon you can grab a land mine before it detonates, run to the shop and put it under the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper won't get mad when you put it down, and he'll die instantly to the bomb.

I hate the climbing gloves because they change the way you platform. I prefer getting spring shoes because usually the extra one block jumping distance is enough to get pretty much anywhere you need as much as the gloves do. Gloves don't allow you to go up awnings where you would still need a rope so in either case boots are better.

The knife is pretty useless since it only 1 shots normal enemies. The only normal enemies that take more then 1 shot by that time of the game(With spike shoes) are mummies, Yeti king, Wooly mamooths, and a few others which at anycase he doesn't really bother attacking. Its also HORRIBLE if you have the kapala since it destroys the bodies of the enemies so you can't get the blood.
