Everyone in here who's wondering, Spelunky won't be available to all on Steam until August 8, 2013. It was only given to Northern, myself, and a few other people beforehand.

It's much more gratifying to play a game and figure it out on your own. Yes, he is providing entertainment for a community, but he's under no obligation to take help. Most Lets Players and streamers prefer that, if they want help, they know their community is more than happy to provide. We should respect his decision to play the game as blind as he wants.

NL, just so you know... When The Ghost comes along, any gems he touches as he floats along turn into diamonds that are worth a lot. You can grind money really fast if you feel so inclined to mess with him.

The Ankh was a religious symbol and hieroglyph from the Ancient Egypt that symbolized life and healing. Games that use this symbol, like in Spelunky's case and Binding of Isaac, make a reference to that by allowing you to resurrect if you carry it with you.

Hey, NL, you can use bombs to trigger arrow trap if you don't have an item WITHOUT exploding the bomb. All you need to do is be holding the bomb while on the edge of a ledge and you'll drop it.

9:58 I can vouch for this 100%. Northernlion has caused me to go out and buy many a great game, but as I play it, get better, and beat it, seeing him go through and make the same mistakes time and again (while entertaining) sometimes makes my eye twitch.

Northernlion, if you find yourself fighting Anubis without paste, there's a much easier way of doing it than what you were doing. Place a bomb down in front of you, pick it up, and throw it at the right moment so it explodes at Anubis. It works for me. Though it's probably a lot harder with the Pitcher's Mitt as it would be more difficult to time it correctly, given how fast the bomb moves when thrown with the Mitt.

The boulders are influenced by the terrain, but putting holes around would likely just cause the boulder to lose less speed (at least without a lot of calculation and understanding of the boulder's properties). Feel free to mess around with such efforts, but I expect it to mostly be a waste of bombs in most circumstances.

I'm not sure if NL knows this but on the level with the psychic presence you can actually get the jetpack which is a really useful item.

Northernlion. The creator of spelunky Derek Yuu, the pitchers mitt is his favorite item and in my opinion it is also the best item. ALSO if you had bought the items before hand kali would have given you a different item, [[all passives are amazing, please, ive done max hell runs take my advice. buy every passive item you can, except the cape. you can usually get by without one. maybe not at your skill level yet but defiantly when you can get to hell reliably like myself. ]]

as far as i know it is exactly the same, except that there will be new exclusive mode on PC: the daily challenge that you can only play once a day but the challenge will be exactly the same for everyone so you can compare who has done better

1-4, if you are more than 2 spaces away from arrow trap you can fall and whip at the same time to whip arrows out of the air.

I don't really understand people's insistence on thinking NL is just bad without even taking into consideration what he's doing. It's very, very difficult to play well while commentating on what's happening and knowing that thousands of people will view it and judge you. It's not the same as sitting down and playing a video game at your own pace without worrying about anything but the game.
