"This will probably be the last run" - 29:00 *check time...* - 1:00:00 Well there's no way I can check the comments now XD And well done, the quality of play on this one was a step above. It was one hell of a strong run but between balancing being aggressive and playing conservative, looking for cards that just work for you, and paying attention to when your relics were going to proc... *That* is what A20 play looks like.

My biggest satisfaction with this run was it didn't feel like egg was carried by good relics or card combos. I feared his first a20 win would be getting lucky with a broken body slam/barricade deck, or getting dead branch/corruption. But no, nl drafted a really well balanced deck, knew he needed more at the end so he chose his relics and mapping with that in mind, and DIRECTLY because of that decision he was able to get pantograph and shuriken. Smart plays and a little luck got him this win, he deserved it.

@@oodlesofnoodles23 I couldn't agree more. Even with all his misplays he managed to pull it out after being pretty discouraged from losing the first two. I was definitely impressed that he didn't manage to throw this one, too. Good job egg.

@@oodlesofnoodles23 I mean, the number of relics, pantograph, incense burner, helix, etc. He got some very very strong combinations, but in my mind that's what most A20 run clears look like. From what I can tell it's the relics that carried the run, and he built his deck to use them properly. Lots of draw, lots of repeat attacks, it worked out extremely well generating extra energy and keeping the engine going. Early Molten Egg was a sleeper bomb as well, giving him a lot of powerful options immediately as the run went on. Sure, it wasn't something like corruption + dead branch, but it was still a very powerful run. Now all that said, I agree with you entirely that it didn't *feel* like he got carried, and frankly that's because I don't believe he was. His level of focus and patience were on an entirely different level than usual, and he actually *played* well. It felt like he was mostly in control, rather than just throwing things at the wall. Even if he didn't always have a plan, it felt like he did know what he needed to do. And watching that play out was extremely exciting and satisfying, especially because you never knew when he might slip up and throw it away. But he never let go of the reigns and man what a ride it was.

@@Avoncarstien yes, but he only got those exact relics you mentioned (except helix) BECAUSE he knew he needed to be more aggressive on the third floor, and he took black star and aimed towards elites. It was a smart play, he got lucky with the pulls but that was just his risk paying off. Obviously it was a strong deck, but nl has had strong decks in the past and we've watched them implode. Edit: I didn't see your last paragraph before typing my comment, sorry for the angry tone. Definitely agreed that he played well, honestly he's been in similar situations before on the third floor but for once he kept his head on straight and kept playing well until the very end. Also, his relic monitoring was next level today for some reason, I've never seen egg remember happy flower nearly as much before lol

​@@oodlesofnoodles23 Yep, happy flower and lantern were early pickups that were huge for the deck. I'm also super proud of him nabbing offering. And that x2 transform into Flame Barrier + Battle Trance... I've never seen him respect draw that much in a run before, and it was huge for him. And I'll say it again, most A20 wins look crazy powerful on paper because they have to be, A20's hard :P Even the best players lose more than half their runs. Still as you said, it's not the first time he's had a crazy powerful run going into floor 3, you can have just about as powerful a deck and relic combination possible and it still doesn't play itself. Watching 'em play like a guy who's done almost 600 slay the spire episodes was like rain on a parched desert XD

@@314Marvin Well, I think pretty much no card is garbage, it depends on the situation. I think the problem was that for a while, he would always pick perfect strike at the first opportunity, then fill his deck with other strikes and then lose because he has a 50 card deck with 80% strike cards :P

He's been playing VERY well lately, albeit he's thrown SO many wins in the last say, ten episodes. The point is he's actually been seeing the second act, and then the third. He _might_ actually not be awful anymore, and I _ABSOLUTELY_ 100% know that it's from him playing on the switch off camera. Like three days after it releases he's suddenly actually thinking about turns, cards, and item picks. Such a 180, and all it took was him playing while thinking for ten runs.

I questioned SO many cards you skipped over in building this deck, cards that would have empowered your perfected strikes... the block you so desperately lacked... I didn't think this one was going to be a win until I saw it all coming together. The right relics, the right cards... this one wasn't pure luck. You built into a deck that had the potential to win and you kept it focused on that while waiting for the other pieces to fall into place! SO MANY TIMES I've seen you dilute your power.
