So, the way the analysis works, the blunder didn't cost your opponent -0.35 points. It means that following that move the game's state was .035 points in your opponents favor. If they hadn't blundered and had played the best move, they would have been up "8.32 points". These are also the analyses that are the most useful to look closer at, but they tend to be the ones you gloss over quicker than the ones where you played really well. If you look at the suggested moves, you could have brought the game back to even instead of outright losing. Loving the chess series, hope you keep enjoying it!

Quick analysis on the blunder on 28:35 . It didn't lose black 0.35 points it brought the board state to -0.35 which means "equal, very slightly favouring black" as opposed to the around -10.0 advantage they had in the line that was played afterwards. So why was this such a huge mistake? The white queen can actually capture the black rook here. It's check so the only move that makes sense is to recapture the Queen with the other rook. This removes the threat of checkmate and allows white to capture the enemy queen in response. After the dust has settled each side has a rook and six pawns. Mild imbalanes aside, the position would be equal and probably easy to draw. I don't blame NL for not finding this move though, it's not the easiest tactic to notice.

Great content! One quick note: when it says “-0.35” for a move, that’s not the effect of that move, that’s the standing of the position after that move. So, the reason that the -0.35 was a blunder is because it caused the game to go from something like -8 (heavily in favor of black) to -0.35 (basically an even game). Hope that helps!

28:43 I think the score next to the move is game state at that point and not change in game state so the blunder almost brought you back to equal since it allowed you to trade queens and they would have been left with only a rook to mate you with.
@litapd3114 жыл бұрын
i think from the second game vs. cethern you can see the difference between people who have studied chess, and people who are more self taught. NL had a jank sicilian dragon setup (not that he misplayed it, just a weird line to get there because of white's moves). the dragon is when you fianchetto the bishop on g7 (fianchetto is getting your bishop on that long diagonal in front of the rook). this bishop makes the queen-side much weaker, so white castling queen-side was a very bad move and we saw exactly why. usually white will launch a hard attack on blacks kingside if they do the dragon to weaken that bishop (it's a really strong bishop).

The reason that move at the end from your opponent was a blunder is you could have replied with qxf6. It's check and his only sensible move is taking your queen. After he captures your queen, you take his and then the game is back to being roughly even on material (both of you have one rook). Blunder in this case being that it moves the game from being completely winning for black to being a likely draw (but still apperently 0.35 points in favour of black).

Hi NL! The last one was a blunder because it would allow you to take their rook with check, forcing them to take, which would allow you to take the queen making it kind of equal (-0,35 is the relative power between players, not the relative change of power the move would make). NL, 28:34 Qxc2 is a blunder because of Qxf6 Rxf6 Rxc2 (winning back the rook because there is no longer the mate on f1) And black’s advantage didn’t go down by -0.35, if you look closely it went from -8.87 to -0.35, a loss of more than 8 points.
