Saying games are now easier or that people are worse is kinda cringe tbh The only "difficulty" that came from the vast majority of old games was clunky game design, which barely qualifies as game design now a days cuz companies were still trying to figure out what worked and what not and most didn't Also back then we didn't had the massive fucking archive of knowledge that is the internet, people either had to figure out stuff for themselves or have the games be harder cuz they couldn't figure out what to use or do, for example in vanilla WoW, the "Hardest" WoW has ever been, the vast majority of classes sucked cuz they were poorly designed or were unplayable outside or very specific exploits (cat druid and Gnomeregan's manual crowd pummeler) and then the game itself wasn't even hard, most rotations were 2 buttons and all you really had to worry about for raiding was wether or not the enemies resisted your damage type (damage types being a TERRIBLE fucking idea for MMOs btw) Also, as you say, compare literally any action RPG from back then with now, Demon's ain't harder than Elden Ring and the hardest part about old Monster Hunter games is dealing with your character being slow as shit and only being able to hit the monsters once in a blood moon, you spend more time running than fighting, that ain't hard, unless we consider not falling sleep difficulty
