In my high-school, all my friends have to study from when they get home till dinner then dinner till bed, then on the weekend we all work.

The pool thing isn't completely a myth. After eating, your body is locating extra blood to your stomach, for the digestion. Exercising causes blood to be requested in faster amounts by the muscles. 2 + 2 = you vomiting, if you start swimming hard or attempting a new personal record. But it's unlikely that you would die because of it. You'll just feel like crap, at worst. And cramps are unrelated to any of this.

Ginger contains quinine which is the same chemical they put in tonic water to make it taste like... tonic water. Most Ginger Ales either contain quinine to make it taste more like real ginger or use real ginger (or at least claim to IE Canada Dry), so that is not entirely an old wives' tale.
