I'm far from a pokémon knower but as far as I can see they have a "new gimmick" policy for each gen, keeping the lore fresh by introducing new "categories" that make you question "is that really a new pokemon?" or even "is that even a pokemon at all?" e.g. ultra beasts, regional variants, the old timey variants from Legends, those pokémon that look like existing ones but are actually a different species with totally different types

@@Rezuaq They have a new gimmick for the recent gens, but I'd say the gimmicks aren't the pokemon themselves, but stuff like Z-moves, mega evolutions, gigantimax, and the new terastallizing, things that change the combat (way before it was double and triple battles and rotation battles). The ultra beasts are just that game's legendaries basically (technically not, cuz pokemon is weird like that). The ones in Arceus are regional variants, like others before and new ones in the new gen. These paradox are like.. almost variants but not, for some reason lol. Not a big deal, but they really should just keep it simple and stick to regional variants; that's fun enough already.
