Japanese kanji are borrowed from China, a lot of them look the same. China does not have katakana and hiragana thou, so only when you see thous you know the language. It's no surprise that you get them confused NL
@Dragoniar395 жыл бұрын
And I believe both katakana and hiragana are derived from chinese characters, while hangul was constructed by one person and isn't even influenced by chinese
@OfficialPikadex5 жыл бұрын
The best way to distinguish between Japanese and Chinese without knowing one of the languages is probably the presence of Hiragana and Katakana. They tend to be pretty simple characters and are only used in Japanese, though you'd need practice to reliably recognize them over Kanji (which are often taken from Chinese and thus tend to look similar).

Hmm, for once I felt slightly stumped; how were you able to so easily tell it was Hong Kong instead of a busy street in the largest city (Taipei City) in Taiwan? Any specific indicators? I know it really looked like NY City, but that could also have been aforementioned, perhaps
@gwaptiva5 жыл бұрын
For me it was the "too much English for Taipei" at first, before all the "of Hong Kong" names
@badams525 жыл бұрын
He was guessing at first, then he saw the "#hkifcmall" on the bus which gave away that it was in fact Hong Kong. But having that amount of English is a good sign that it's Hong Kong instead of Taipei.

For me it's easy because Taiwan drives on the right and Hong Kong on the left

Oh boy. It's Brazil again. I'm impressed Enelle chose the correct country for once. Has he finally learned the difference between Portuguese and Spanish? Edit: There were multiple signs that indicated the state, but I do not expect a foreigner to notice it.

NL doesn't know what an idiom is... An idiom is basically like a phrase where the meaning is completely different than what the phrase would suggest... So like, saying "you look like you are up a creek" is an idiom for saying "you look like you are in trouble"... What NL described about no publicity being bad publicity is more of a saying... And also it has kinda been proven to work in some cases like with GTA where they intentionally tried to get the bad publicity to get people talking about it and these days it's like one of the biggest video games out there... Like if Bill Cosby didn't get arrested and managed to get a TV show again then people would totally watch it after all the stuff that happened... The publicity wouldn't have been bad for Cosby if he was continuing his career, but the bigger issue with that for him is that he was being arrested pretty much for the remainder of his life basically (and also by this point I'm pretty sure he was basically in retirement anyway...)

Japanese kanji are literally Chinese symbols though aren't they? If you know how to look for hiragana and especially katakana it's easy to distinguish though.

@@TheBilaras97 My operating system is free and I'm almost certain it took much longer to develop than a game that uses an already existing Google API to utilize how it works. I understand them wanting to be paid for their work, and that's acceptable, but the site functioned for 2+ years perfectly fine via Ads, just a little curious as to why the switch occurred so late into the lifespan of the site itself.
