Today we're planting annuals, propagating sedum from cuttings, and baking tart cherry muffins from the cherry trees! The botanical name for the Peruvian Daffodil I showed is Hymenocallis Festalis Zwanenburg.
From Seed to Bloom - amzn.to/3bgt1pu
Chocolate Cherry Muffin Recipe - www.allrecipes.com/recipe/218...
Favorite Cherry Pie Recipe
2 pie crusts of your choice
1 1/3 C. sugar
4 C. pitted sour cherries (cherries should be measured after pitting)
4 T. flour
2 T. dry tapioca
1 1/2 T. lemon juice ( I didn't add this today because I did not have a lemon)
1 capful almond extract
Mix all ingredients and put in bottom of unbaked crust. Dot with butter. Cover with second crust. If making a solid top put some slits in pie. Bake at 450 for 10 min then decrease temperature to 350 and bake for an additional 40 minutes. Sometimes the filling will seep out so I put it on a cookie sheet when baking.

This was such a fun video! The propagation of the sedum was very helpful. I’ve stuck single cuttings in the ground, but your “bunching” approach is what I’ll do going forward. Coleus is one I propagate heavily. However, the best part of this video was your reaction after the first bite of that muffin. It was so honest and true! ☺️💚

I was successful with mums - cut back before July 4 I think is the rule. I stuck the tops I cut off into a long flower box and put in shade - almost 100% success with rooting. I had a beautiful purple that I wanted more of. Love the white flower that you showed- new to me. Thanks

Sage (the one you can eat, but probably it works also with other Salvia) makes new roots on branches that hang down to soil. Or you bury a branch with soil. You don't cut it. Let it stay on the mother plant, take a side branch and bury the middle part and wait until it forms new roots (you can do that also over Winter). When it has new roots you cut it away. That works also with other plants, the Iberis for example.

Thank you so much! I find Salvia so easy to take a piece and just plop it in the ground, you don't even have to dig a hole as their stems go straight in. Keep moist for a bit and tada they grow so easily. Do you have Salvia Involucrata in America? She is an absolute showstopper and the Sunbirds and bees just love her! So much love and blessings.

@@dianegreiner4054 i just pull the lambs ear out close to the ground and stick it somewhere. It sometimes looks bad at first but then it starts to root. As far as catmint goes I just cut a piece off and put it in the ground. Never paid any attention to when lol. I have only purchased 1 catmint and I have several now.

I make yogurt every week so I always have Greek style yogurt around to stand in for sour cream if need be, but mayonnaise isn’t a bad idea either! I mean it’s oil and egg, so I imagine that would make it rich and moist. I guess the extra salt could be problematic, but I love salt with baked goods. Growing up one of my friend’s mom never added salt to her bakery items because it didn’t make sense to her…and her cookies were always missing something. Contrast makes everything more interesting!

It's always a joy to visit with you in your lovely garden. The muffins looks de-lish! I love the "windows" behind your Grandmother's chair, the perfect addition. I propagate sedum that way as well, can't beat free plants. I do hydrangea cutting the same along with roses and coleus, I just make sure I keep them moist till they root. I cannot resist a bargain on plants, I buy so many of mine that way (I would definitely go back for more). I too planted those daffodils for the first time this year, they remind me of crinum lilies somewhat. We're going through our second week of a heat wave upper 90's and 100's so most of my time has been keeping everything watered really well, myself included, phew. Have a great day!
