Your fur baby is adorable! Those orange faux lilies are all over here in the South too. Bradford pears are very evasion here as well. Talking about getting an evasive plant, I bought some lemon yellow lilies at a flea market a few years ago and they came with a fast growing spreading weed that I have been fighting ever since, trying to eradicate it from my garden with no luck, smothering the area didn't work, weed killer hasn't worked, I'm planning on digging out all the dirt in the affect area into black trash bags closing them tight and setting them in the hot sun all summer and see if that works. Otherwise I'll have to discard the soil. The lilies will be beautiful!

Boy you aren't kidding about orange daylily being invasive!!! My garden is overrun with them, my husband said he would help try to dig them up this season but I know it will take years to get rid of them. Another wonderful video. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and knowledge. I always enjoy hearing your thinking about the bloom times and arrangement of each plant you put in the ground. I learn so much from you! Two quick questions from a novice, as I am just planting lilies for my first time: 1) can you keep the lilies in the ground over winter in your zone 6b, or do you have to dig them up in the fall; and 2) will the bulbs continue to bloom for many years, or are they only good for the season? I enjoy your channel so much! ☺️
@NorthlawnFlowerFarmandGardens3 жыл бұрын
Hi Brenda! Lilies are cold hardy in zones 4-9 so we can leave them in ground over the winter. Most varieties will multiply over the years!

I have never been a fan of any hemerocallis. I used to think their strappy foliage looked good around pond edges, but then I just grew to detest them. They fall into the same category as boxwoods and hydrangeas for me (excludes hydrangea quercifolia).

My entire garden is based on scent. My front flower bed alone this summer will consist of fragrant angelonia, nicotiana, butterfly bush, four o’clocks, mockorange, night scented stock, and oriental lilies. I honestly think I’m on a whole other wavelength compared to someone who would prefer asiatic over oriental lilies. However nothing wrong with preferences!

Oh bummer Leia. I'm sorry to hear that. I have bunnies, but they seem to leave my lilies alone. Are your lilies in groups?
