Installing a universal NS spinnaker furler on a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 409 sailboat. Showing all the necessary and optional components of the system. Explaining how to operate a furler with a Code Zero type sail. Going on a test run and comparing the NS furler with Selden and Harken. Discussing on choosing the sail for a cruising boat. Enjoy!

Hi, great vid! Question for you, could the bottom of the furler drum be fixed to a tack line instead of fixed directly to the bow of the boat?
@NorthmanSailing Жыл бұрын
Thanks. Of course, you can make a tackle on the bowsprit for NS Code Zero furler and lead the tack line to the cockpit. Should you choose the Top-Down version of this furler, the tack line may go through a block or low friction ring on the top-down ring.

the gx 7,5 seems cheaper then your kit or am i missing something,
@NorthmanSailing Жыл бұрын
Selden GX7.5 corresponds to our NS1.2TD. The cheapest that I can see is $1200 and it does not include any control line. Besides, you can use it for 1 sail only, as the terminal of the AT cable on the drum is not detachable, and you will have to remove all the system each time. NS1.2TD is $900. It does include a control line on a bungee block, pre-spliced to your dimensions. You can use it for more than 1 sail and change sails underway. You can lead the line the the cockpit and leave the system mounted on the boat, just changing and removing the sails rolled over the torque cables. Selden line accessories like stanchion double leads or the control line stopper block are also more expensive.

@@NorthmanSailing what is the ratchet block that you are using for the furling line, looks like a good idea
@NorthmanSailing Жыл бұрын
@@superformOG NS38 or 57 ratchet, depending on the line diameter. Of course, you can choose a plain block and sew on velcro on the clew of the sail instead
