Hello this is my card. Check on the back of the card where the metal rings are. That is where the back plate had stands and likely made contact with one of the components. Thanks for the effort so far it is greatly appreciated.

"we did a good job" My dad and I used to trade thanks for dinner. When I would cook or order food I would thank him for the food and vise versa. The rest of my family started to question why we did that. It is not something that we discussed or planned but just started to say out of selflessness. He was a great man and we understood that it does not matter who accomplishes something but rather that we do what benefits each other. I've watched your videos for about 1 month now and I can see that you are a very honest and humble man. Never let your values falter.

This. In one of his recent videos he was fixing a 980TI, that card is 3 generations old and would be considered low-mid range by today's standards. Pre-shortage days, fixing that card would cost more than its worth.

uP1728Q is the part number. Made by "uPI Semi." The device is NRFND at end of life. Check the inductor coil associated with that regulator and any possible vias. The datasheet says "Guaranteed 3A output" so something shorted or blew out downstream and any vias in between can act like a fuse.

I like your methodology and your approach to troubleshooting those graphic cards, measuring voltages, resistance values, and writing them down for future reference. I used to do the same thing fixing VCR's decades ago. It is always handy to have those voltages and resistance measurements for reference and comparison troubleshooting.

Thank you so much for allowing us to work along side you and share in the frustration of trouble shooting. Watching that IC fly off... ugh... people who haven't attempted to use hot air on a small component have no idea the skill it takes to master hot air. My guess is a bad coil or resistor. I'm thinking that these boards fail due to overheating? Hope you share with us the fault you find. Aways wanting to learn more. Very happy with my last order of Qianli Precision Tweezers.

I'm almost certain that my old HD7950 would not POST without at least a passive heatsink over the die. When I was water cooling it, the block didn't contact the die because of poor mounting pressure and the extremely thin liquid metal layer, and it didn't POST. My guess is that it avoids damage by shutting down 'cause of the heat ramping up very fast. I don't know if the same happens with this GTX1080Ti, but unless it boots at a very low power state it is feasible it's just protecting itself. The HD7950 is an older card, I think that the low power states trigger after it finished booting up.

i love the blower cards. they get a lot of hate, but the use case is always misunderstood. these are perfect for very small builds, like itx. the fan spins real fast, so can be audible, but is so much better at pushing air through the fins and out the back (i/o side). also red pcb 👍
@em0_tion
@em0_tion 3 жыл бұрын
Blower cards get hate because they usually suck. The whole cooler needs to be re-designed from the ground up for optimal performance and manufacturers just opt out for the quick (cheaper) solution. Stick an axial fan on a crappy heatsink and of course it will over-compensate with higher RPMs. PlayStations have axial fans too, but Sony designed their heatsinks and fan size accordingly - so no issues there. 😉 Just like the ITX format you mentioned or portable computers (a.k.a. notebooks/"lap"tops) for example. They were never invented/designed for high performance gaming, those are compact size platforms meant to save space in work environments and/or be easily transported. There are exceptions, but they don't make the rule and you can pretty much count them on your fingers. Manufacturers' job is to sell you tech constantly, so like always - use your head, so you don't have to use your wallet again. 👍
@blazetechstuff
@blazetechstuff 3 жыл бұрын
@@em0_tion with regards to the heatsink and being cheaper. they follow the design of a normal datacenter gpu, so it is not so outlandish. i was just addressing all the flak they get. but there is one advantage, when people perceive them as shit, they become cheaper. so you can keep the blower or swap it out for a waterblock.
