You do great work! However, I'd expect a little less than half the original reliability of that component, with it not being soldered to a proper ground copper pour (as you rightly pointed out about "scientists"). Heat can't adequately escape without a solid thermal transfer mass. Over time, that FET will anneal and eventually die. You did everything you could with masterful skill, but exposed pads exist on power components for a reason. Keep up the great work!

I have so many questions. First, how do you replaced the mosfet? They are universal, or do you have a donor board? Second, you soldered many legs of the mosfet together, it didn't need to be individually soldered to their respective pads? About the voltage measure, one probe was being used to touch the components, and the other probe, where it is?
@kyleszen33462 жыл бұрын
Some will have the same pinout, footprint, and will operate the same. Others will not. It's up to the person making the repair to find suitable replacements. Most non proprietary chips have part #'s you can look at their datasheet to find the specs and use that info for replacements. Mosfets need 3 connections: gate, source, and drain. High current applications will sometimes group multiple legs together to spread out the load. The other probe would be on any of the ground pads/pins. When you're checking for shorts, you're looking for paths to ground.
@nicholassage20762 жыл бұрын
@@kyleszen3346 And if I may add, to learn all this, learn how to use a multimeter and find good course that explains components and how they work , then learn how to solder
