This is by far an excellent video based on the fuse having a partial failure where it was acting like a resistor 12 V in 6 V out very interesting. It is very informative because it teaches us not only to check for continuity on the fuse but also to check voltage Across the fuse on the input side of the fuse as well as the output side of the fuse but nonetheless, the card still has another blown fuse. Now the question is what caused that other fuse to blow. It would be interesting to see a part two on this card. I would imagine it’s something on the 12 V rail that would be my guess but it could also be something else. This is still a very good video. It could prove to be a training video, especially if Alex is able to figure out what else is wrong with this card and actually get it to work by finding a chip that went bad a 20 amp fuse that went bad a Z fuse that went bad and who knows what else there must be another reason why that Z fuse, blue or perhaps just changing the fuse my correct the problem because when the chip went bad, it took that fuse with it and caused a partial failure of the 20 amp fuse very interesting. It’s like a mystery novel. There are two outcomes to this card either Alex will get it to work or it could be deemed a no fix.🤔
@TheResoluteHawkКүн бұрын
You can't just change the fuse if there is a short circuit at one end. You have to find the shorted component. Typically if a fuse on the 12V rail is shorted, a component that takes 12V as an input is shorted to ground.

Alex , having seen you repair so many desktop gpu cards , i want to ask you how often do you see failed gpus in laptops ? Not repaired or anything , just how often a failure in laptop is due to gpu. The only video i remember is the cracked gpu in a laptop that was no fix.

It's uncommon for a GPU to fail on a laptop. This was more typical in older models, particularly with brands like HP, Toshiba and MacBooks.

When high Mosfet dies it cooks GPU or CPU or both
@lolidasterner4143 күн бұрын
@@Shady-Gaming can happen true. But also depends on the model and manufacturer. For example may alienware or dell laptops that had burnt mosfets can't be fixed , while others can. Because the same mosfet dying in nearly every laptop of a series a brand is a design error , not something that is a random hardware failure. From what i remember from Alex's videos.

Really disappointed in EVGA with their 3090. Still have my 1080 and my gf's 2080. My 3090 died a week out of warranty, it seems like a lot of peoples 3090's died from evga. I thought about sending it in but it's got a waterblock on it and I'm sure the stock cooler is buried somewhere in my garage. (I don't believe the watercooling had anything to do with it it was fine for 3 years and i never had any apparent leaks.

Well to start heat is the killer of all gpus a low end power supply is usually the next culprit, obviously no liquid damage visible, tho the main culprit is dust damage as dust traps moisture and if it gets on the wrong components it can cause damage, a power surge or static would have taken out more sensitive parts, so in conclusion to you asking for a essay on the topic a low end psu and dust damage! Fuze is only there to protect the psu because they put too high of a value and modern electronics are one and done so, so it may only protect psu from damage and not the device

I once came across a Blown fuse that re-shorted after it blew. I was a 15A Microwave oven fuse with a spring at one end. The other end blew, then the spring part sprung towards the other end and reconnected the circuit causing the circuit breaker to trip. Most stupid fuse design I ever saw. I should have kept it and framed it.

@TheResoluteHawkКүн бұрын
1) Improper cooling, which leads to heat buildup inside components. 2) Owners messing around with overclocking when they don't have any idea what they're doing. 3) Natural wear and tear from the card being used.
