Long-range weather forecasting is shifty and unpredictable at best. Especially this year. Let's hope February and March gets active, otherwise our snow pack will be below normal when all is said and done. This prolonged dryness is not normal for the entire month of January. Thanks for the forecast.

Can't say I'm not concerned about the snow pack but it can't be helped. I do believe this is a setup for an active march and a repeat of that freak snow event we had an April not long ago. But that is yet to be seen, thank you for everything Rod!

I understand the benefits of the snow and colder temps, but I am extremely happy that I might potentially experience the first winter of my entire 30 years of living with no snow or terribly cold weather (coming from chicago, been in portland 5 years now).

I recall having a conversation with you a few weeks ago regarding how it’s not good to have mild temps with irregular precipitation. Look what’s happening in California right now. That’s why it’s important on the West coast….

@santacruz59 I do not know you. Can you stop responding to my comments. I'm excited for a snowless winter, simple as that. If you dont agree move along. At this point this is harassment.

Already 32 at 1200' in the foothills at 5:40. Late afternoon shower crashed the temperature 7 degrees in 30 minutes.

Yes, I'm in the Foothills at around 500 ft... the showers did the same thing here a couple of hours earlier. 1 minute I felt okay, and as soon as it started raining I could see my breath! 😂❤

I live in the hidden springs area the upper class neighborhood in Boise and we've only got in about 2 in all winter
@danielmoung9098Күн бұрын
I only see a small glimmer of hope IF it gets colder in February like you are talking about, but that is a huge 'if' right now. Otherwise this is not only depressing, but bad for oregon's climate, the lack of rain and a healthy mountain snowpack is going to make it worse for drought and wildfires next summer.

It can switch back to showing a cold pattern just as fast as it switched to showing a warmer patern .. flipping and flopping .. will see what things do in another week to 10 days ..im willing to bet things flip back to showing cold signal

We've only had about 2 inches of winter so far here in Boise I'm watching from Boise when you post specific Northwest I get notifications thanks for the updates but looks like we won't have really much of winter this year for some reason there's a ridge blocking cold air and it's a ridge blocking from us getting cold weather and snow we've only had about 2 inches all winter so far here in Boise and looks like we're not going to get much for this winter maybe next winter it's got to be better next winter than this winter because he can't get much worse than this

Sure is a warm winter for a LA Nina never heard of a warm La Nina before
@tanisleach782914 сағат бұрын
Warm La Nina winters can happen. A notable one is 1950-51 which was 2 degrees above normal for Dec-Feb, but March ended up being active. 1917-18 was a La Nina (confirmed via re-analysis) and it has the warmest departure from the then normals at +4.9F (for context 2014-15 was +3.8F). Last example I'll put here is that the mid 1970s contained 3 consecutive above average winters, that were all La Ninas. Yes La Nina (which it's still in question whether the duration will be long enough to classify as an official event) tilts the odds towards colder and wetter, but not always.

Hopefully next winter we will get some snow here and the Boise area along with Portland as well but just weather pattern is not very good for cold weather or snow it's got to be better next winter because they can't get much warmer than what it is this winter we've had one of the warmest December's on record here in the Boise area it's got to be better than this next year

I know it’s not a popular opinion but I am ready for spring. I know everyone else wants us to have arctic weather with lots of snow and ice but that is not what is common here. We are know for our mild wet winters not snowy cold winters like Minnesota. I am fine with just mountain snow

Keep that polar ridge up north. Don't want any snow in Portland area this winter.
