Well now, thats so nice, thank you. Mines a '39, went straight to the RAF and spent its service life in Malta based in RAF Luqa. Sold out of service locally about 1960 to RAF serviceman, then ?? Feller brought it home in bits in '93. I've had it about 15yrs or so. Roadworthy again, and very nice to ride (allowing for modern riding conditions), with 4 speed footchange dollshead box, Matchless girder forks, and later 60w dynamo. In me dining room at present, only because the garage is full of bikes.. Happy days. All the best..

Mine live in back of the shed because of the other stuff in the garage. Mine has the Sturmy 3 speed box and is a little fussy. I enjoy a ride now and again , but it's a little slow for modern traffic, you have to be on the ball, and eyes in the back of your head . YB

Great to see such an old bike on the road. It seems surprisingly usable even with its oddities. I wonder how often they needed to have engine rebuilds in their day. I am guessing the oil system is total loss and very hit and miss in meeting the needs of the bearings and cylinder.

Its not dead loss oil system, its feed and return gear oil pump, being on a all bearing crank its not bad, and will just keep going. When i borrowed it from my farther, it had a +60 piston in a un bored cylinder, it was completely smashed down to the 1st ring from the part of the bore that had not worn, and would still pull 70mph on the clock, that's 40+ years back. cheers YB
